I was tipped off to WW2f. So far I find it super. I basicly was trying to find information on my brother Nicks WWII service on ATTU and was part of the initial landing on 11 May 43. He was in the 591st AAA AW Bn. Not much information found about the unit. I am a Army Vet. anymore info about me, you can email me at tmlinar@wi.rr.com
Nice to meet you Tommyjoe. Welcome aboard! Both my grandparents were in the Aleutians (including one on Attu). I'll let the experts here guide you on your research.
Good luck with your search, there are some good people here who can point you in the right direction. Sadly I'm not one of them
Hi and welcome to the forum lots of recent Attu area research been going on, hope you can get some answers.
Welcome TJ, look around and see what interests you, and add what you have when you can. We all are learning here.
Welcome Tommyjoe. Are you certain that you want your email address open to any Tom, Dick or Harry that might find it?
Glad to have you aboard, Tommyjoe. It sounds as though you know Josh. I would suggest that you do a search for threads started by him. It's likely your brother and his grandfather were in the same unit, so the information he gathered would apply to your brother as well. Good luck and let us know what we can do to help.
I saw his post on the Attu guest book. And after exchanging a few emails I pointed him to my photo thread. Sadly neither of us had any new info for each other. I may have received some new info today tho. I got an Album with picture's of Attu. among them is one captioned "of 591st" According to my grandpas Separation Qualification Record the 591st was a 7 man crew. With this pic we can identify 3 so far. Tommy's brother, My grandpa, and this man. However I cant read the last name.
It looks like "Coulaskie", but I can't locate that name, and I think it says Battery Commander (Looks to be a captain).
