Jaeger, I'd be interested in what your actual duties in the Army are and how close the survey came.

Having never served in the military thanks to health issues, I altered this to fit the things I did and saw as a Correctional Officer.

    Combat Inf 100%
    Pioneer 88%
    Special Ops 81%
    Support Gunner 75%
    Offizier 75%
    Artillery/Air 63%

Support Gunner which is fairly accurate as I was the Bren gunner at school.

I was never in the service, so I took the quiz as kind of a lark. Kind of seems about right.

    You Scored as Artillery/Aircraft
You are an artillery/armor soldier. Fighting really isn't your strongsuit, and instead you prefer to sit back and blow things up with your 80+ mile range. This isn't to say you don't have a strong sense of duty and honor. You just seem to be smarter about it than most others around you. You agree with Gen Patton's words: "The object of war isn't to die for you country, it's to make the other bastard die for his."

You Scored as OfficerOfficer, you're the brass. The leader of the bunch. You have leadership qualities, or you have a really big ego. Most likely both. You know how to get things done, and don't care who you have to kill to get them done. Your a person with a mission and to stand in your way means pain. You have gumption and intelligence to back it up. Hold the line!!! AND SOMEONE GET ME A STARBUCKS!!!

Interesting thing about this is, "I shouldn't of ever been a damned-able civilian"! And I had a 50/50 chance of being an officer?! CRAP!

So, I take it that you are one of those "Once a Marine, Always a Marine, who was a Doggie for a Little While" types, eh?

When I was in the Army, I ran into several guys who did their first hitch in the Marines and then re-enlisted Army. They all said that they went into the Army because the promotions came quicker since it was a much bigger organization, and that there were more MOSs available to the career oriented man. Makes sense I guess.

Yes and no. I will always be a Marine until the day I die, so in that aspect yes. I am also proud to be Airborne, and will be so to the day I die. In the Army, Airborne units tend to perform better than leg units. That is not because there is anything about jumping out of aircraft that makes one a better soldier. It's because it attracts soldiers that want a greater challenge, jump school also winnows out the weaker and less motivated soldiers. That is not to say there aren't good and superior soldiers in leg infantry units, because there are many, it's just that they have less effect on the units performance because their influence is somewhat negated by the higher percentage of weak, ill-motivated and mediocre soldiers. Units that think they are elite, whether it is based upon fact or not, also tend to perform up to their expectations.

I am not one of those that thinks everything the Marine Corps does is better, nor that all Marines are superior to all soldiers. I have stated before that I knew many excellent and outstanding soldiers, they would have made excellent/outstanding Marines had they chosen that branch. There are also a number of things that I think the Army does better than the Marine Corps. Hope this clarifies.

P.S. Bobby, if I wasn't proud of having been a Doggie also I never would have mentioned that I was one.
