Ok! lets try to get some facts here! The G33/40 was made by "dot" (Waffen Werke, Brunn)from 1940-1942. Does anyone know any facts on where these guns were issued to? I've heard, mountain troops, panzer crews, and paratroopers, which all make sense, but I have yet to see a photo of one being used in combat by these troops? Anyone know for sure? Matt
Sorry, mp38. As you know, I know not quite a lot of things of what you are talking about... Gewehr 43? I have not seen pictures of men carrying it either, now you mention it.
Mp : I own a very nice example, and yes it was used in small numbers with the Fallshirmjägern and Mountain troops. Mine is marked 945 above the date 1942. Serial # 7654. I know of pics, and I wish I had them of truppen in Crete and in Tunisia. E
Matt : They are unfortunatley in possession of two German friends who both are on extended holiday.....of course ! , and I don't have a scanner which really sucks as well. They have two pics of the rifle being used by Fallshirm in Afrika as well. I am going to try and write a friend in Austria that maybe able to confirm it's useage with alpine truppen soon, and I have my feelers out on a couple of forums besides to find any books or web-sites that we may turn to. I just picked up my G33/40 today! What a beauty! "dot41" all matching, in about 90% conditon. This gun looks just awesome! I'm taking it to the rifle range this Friday! I'll let you know how it does! Matt

Thanks Martin! I got a good chuckle out of that! I can't get you a 747, but how about a B-17 instead?! Let me know if you are ever planning on coming over to this side of the pond. I'll be more than happy to take you out the the gun club and shoot up a few rounds! I was just talking with a friend today about taking a trip to the "Fatherland" next fall. Sure thing! The G33/40 is a compact version of the K98. It was made from 1940-1942, by Waffen Werke, Brunn ("dot"). From my understanding the Czechs had this rifle already in service in 1933, and the German took over and started producing it in 1940, hence the name "G33/40". Because of it smaller size, reportedly the G33/40 was issued to Luftwaffe paratroopers, mountain troops, and Panzer crews. I have tried to find photos to prove this, but haven't found any. Erich says that he has seen some, and I would love to see them! The G33/40 is a very rare gun. The one I got is all matching and marked "G33/40" and maker "dot 1941". I paid about $1,300 for it! I also have a nice maker marked sling for it that is dated "40". It looks great! Matt
