Come on, let us know what you got for Christmas! Was it what you wanted, needed or despised (but put on a good face when opening the package)?

My folks bought me a new refridgerator! Mine was shot and I was shopping for one when they came by to visit on the way home from a doctor's office visit (they do that a lot these days, doctor office visits that is). My dad said "so, you need a ice box eh boy (I'm 51)", and then mom broke out the check book and asked how much it cost. I said that it cost a lot, and then dad said that they couldn't write a check for "a lot" and to give them a number, and that they'd rather give me a gift that I really needed (and that would save them a trip to the mall). That was mighty nice of them, totally unexpected and unneeded (I had the money in the slush fund). It was delivered and installed the next day. A nice Christmas present indeed.

So, what loot did y'all end up with?

I've been having Christmas all summer. We built our dream/retirement home this year and along with it acquired all those "needed" items. BUT, I did get a Vexilar sonar fish finder for ice fishing that I did not expect. And something really special : the first Christmas with my Sister in 30 years. Living out of state and travel restrictions since 1980 put a serious crimp in Yule Time visits but now she and her's are just across the Lake.. We had dinner with her, the Brother-in-law and our Niece and Nephew. Pretty nice present!

This year I made out like a bandit, well sort of. I have told my sons and others that contrary to what people have said they "hate" for Christmas, I actually enjoy. Like new socks, new pocket-Ts, and such. These are things I use, and if I don’t have to buy them for myself, that is a real gift.

Consequently I received a couple of really nice Riggs Pocket Ts from my little sister, and a dozen great cushion sole Hanes crew socks from the youngest son. My oldest son sent me his usual, a new version of Norton Anti-Virus for 2011. My younger brother sent me some cash, so I bought myself a new Cuisinart toaster, not a toaster oven but a wide slot unit with an easy clean crumb tray. My old Toastmaster was on its last legs, and barely could add color let alone warmth to a slice of homemade bread if it was cut thick. And I love thick cut bread!

My Step-mother send me a card with a check from Dad, his writing skills come and go with the Alzheimer’s these days, but she filled me in on what’s happening at their end. I used part of his gift to buy myself a new Terabite external hard-drive for storing stuff, it isn’t really a "tera" since the actual storage is only 961 gigs, but coupled with the 750 gig external I already have I can really keep things safe, and my internal not cluttered up.

So I’m pleased all things considered.

An Ipad, two US Army Commemorative knives (one for my purse), several gift cards and a beautiful carbine that holds 9mm rounds (great for home protection) as seen here....

On a more milder note, I also got a terrible pinched nerve in my left shoulder that's been giving me the fits. I'm sitting at home right now with two ice packs on me..*grumbles*

Gift card to a women's wear store, gift card for a book store, first season of Merlin, The Pacific, a Sugarland CD, a Josh Grobin CD, a Walkman speaker dock for my MP3 player (special order). The hubby got an LP converter so we'll be able to convert our hundred of albums from the old days which will be great, also a converter of negatives so we can archive our old photos from our non-digital days - including ones my folks took in Europe and some negatives I have of their wartime wedding that have never been printed before. As always we do well. We are very fortunate.

Has LP fired her new gun? Maybe that might have something to do with the sore neck? Try shooting with the other arm. To balance it out. :)
