Sorry folks, I don't know how to put a link here with an iphone but i saw it on the news this morning. Happy birthday good sir! You are truly an film legend! EDIT: OK folks, got to a computer and found a story to post: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/302870
He's really a great actor! Super as "Marty"! "Borgnine joined the United States Navy in 1935, after graduation from James Hillhouse High School [4] in New Haven, Connecticut. He was discharged in 1941, but re-enlisted when the United States entered World War II and served until 1945 (a total of ten years), reaching the rank of Gunner's Mate 1st Class. He served aboard the destroyer USS Lamberton (DD-119). His military decorations included the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal with Fleet Clasp, and the World War II Victory Medal. In 2004, Borgnine received the honorary rank of Chief Petty Officer from the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Terry D. Scott—the US Navy's highest ranking enlisted sailor at the time—for Borgnine's support of the Navy and naval families worldwide." - Wikipedia Extract USS Lamberton:
Happy Birthday Lt.Commander Quentin McHale, and may you have many more ) PT-73 has seen many years of service. Hi mate, thank God, he's still here and still very healthy ) He just appeared in a new movie-cant recall the title. Ive been a huge fan of his since seeing him as Sgt Fatso, in: From Here To Eternity.
I always think of him in the Poseidon Adventure, when his wife is sea sick, and he yells at the nurse that she can't take the pills because she can't keep anything down. She says "they're sapositories Mr. Rogo, you don't swallow them". He responds "well, what the h--- are you supposed to do with them?"
His most recent role (as far as I know) was in the action-comedy RED as a CIA record's officer. The movie comes out on DVD today. I enjoyed it, worth the rent.
I was thinking the same thing Richard W., I'd take book that Borgnine stopped doing push-ups, or running on a treadmill back in the fifties! I would also doubt that he quaffed gallons of veggie drinks either. That would be a "strike" against the LaLaane life-style. Don't get me wrong, I love veggie drinks but not weird ones. I make my own version of V-8 here at home and it is a little stronger on the spinach percentage, and I add a lemon wedge or two as well.
I hate vegetables, and I get no exercise. It's a race to see if I'll die before hitting Post Quick Reply....

I have been known to put in a couple of shakes of Louisiana Hot in mine as well. Sort of a Snappie-Tom, I keep a container of that in my fridge to make a "red beer" out of on occasion.
I've never done so much as an hour of exercise for the sake of exercise. I eat lots of stuff supposedly bad for you like eggs, bacon, butter, starch...you name it. But, I also can lay block all day at 53 in 40 degree (110F) + heat and up to 50%+ humidity (I got photos to prove it!), or do whatever. Haven't been to a doctor in who knows how long. Drink like a...well ... Navy Chief..... I think there's something to recommend that over the pansya$$ed go to the gym, eat healthy and, get a finger up your ... every year lifestyle....
Well, the bottle on the right ISN'T water....its derived from the humble potato and magically becomes Vodka. So my veggie drink gets "special" treatment to get to the glass (note the rimmed salt, a JL No-No!)
I think dousing anything with the "bascy" sauce is the secret to a long and happy life. That's good eatin! And it's apparently a healthy additive to spice up food. Weight Watchers recommend it (my wife told me). I keep a supply on hand for eggs, pork chops, steak, shrimp, pork rinds, and on and on.
Happy Birthday to Ernest!! He's played some rather animated characters in many of my favorite war movies...like Dirty Dozen. 94 years young!! Keep it up.. (..since bringing up weight and exercise, I've lost 180 lbs over a year and a 1/2's time..the best thing to do is the incorporate an 80/20 ratio eating pattern; 80 % lean protein/20% carbohydrates from vegetables. Stay away from from "flour-y" foods, rice, junk food, and foods that can eat the battery acid off of car terminals aka..sodas)
