As I am into my second Hunnicutt book (Pershing) I have to think someone should write a book on the stateside works of the Ordinance Committee, the Armored Board, Aberdeen Proving Ground and throw in General Motors and a few other to boot. There was all sorts of experimentation going on at the various manufacturers and at Aberdeen, I would think that that and the decision making itself would make for a fascinating book. I have found one from the viewpoint of Chrysler, Tanks Are Mighty Fine Things by Wesley Stout, but I am hoping to find more. Has anyone heard of any? Recomendations?
Try "The Business of Tanks, 1933 to 1945" by Ross for an interesting perspective of a Brit dealing with the US Army. Good stuff.
That's one of the titles on my "Armor books too expensive to buy" list. I will probably acquire it by interlibrary loan.
Only a year late but found this :: Not sure how deep it dwells into the manufacture side but lots of pictures scattered about. http://www.history.army.mil/html/books/Mobility_Shock_and_Firepower/CMH_30-23-1.pdf A pretty good History of the development and use. 587 pages in pdf
