This forum is way too plain. I don't know what happened to the old forum but it was better than this IMO. This is white and blue... Let's get the olive drab back etc.

I think it's something that is being looked at, if I remember the discussions from before. But it's kind of about the info available not the skirt it's dressed in.

Luke is correct. It is something being looked at. The new VBulletin software did not support the old "skin". It will just take a little bit of time.

Out of curiosity, what happened to the old site anyway? Didn't there used to be a mainpage as well?

I assume you mean the page your taken to when you click on the Home link? I believe that takes you to the homepage for the World War 2 Network, which includes both ww2f and ww2talk. It not currently complete though. It will take some getting used to, but you will need to click on forum instead of home.

As for what happened, we upgraded to the newest software from VBULLETIN. Unfortunately some of the things we used to have were not supported in the new version, which would be why everything looks so different.

Why not go back to the old version (if possible)?

The old system was contaminated (as I understand Otto's problems), and the new vBulletin carrier doesn't support the old "skin" (?). Don't sweat the small stuff bud, the site was saved and it isn't the "bells and whistles" that make this a great forum. Otto will get it all sorted out in the end, I trust him and his judgement here.

To plain indeed, and frankly it looks terrible.

Unfortunately the software that runs this place (vBulletin) was recently bough out, and the new owners aren't half as diligent as the previous team. Even after a year of live development, the current version is still too formative to support a theme, so the people that make money from making skins and selling them just aren't willing to invest time in a poor product right now. We will eventually have a better looking website, but it will unfortunately take a while to get there.

I would rather have a good working site than a pretty one. Its all about what we have to say after all.

As long as this place has its regulars, it still feels like home no matter what it looks like.

I do like seeing the "WW2 F" logo replace the "Vbulletin". That alone spiffs this place up and makes it feel more normal.

OK, I'm a little slow on the uptake. I never even noticed the logo change (when did it take place?). I'm far more interested in the exchanges that take place. Darren is right, it does feel like home with the continued input of the regulars and the infusion of new folks helps keep it lively.

If this is all we have to complain about, then things must be pretty good here. It is a bit dull to look at, but that's what Playboy Special Editions is for (just pictures). The words here is what matters.

Doth not judge thy book by it's cover. Content transcends beauty and the binding that holds thy interest lies within the pages.

sorry, I'll go away and go fishing now.

I noticed it a few days ago. What I would like to know is when did this "Like icon" appear? Please don't tell me it's always been here and I'm a dummy!

I never noticed it until someone "liked" one of my posts. I don't know where it came from, but I think I'll just stick with salutes and rep.
