Good point BD. Pretty sure they'd have used bomb by now if they had one. Wonder what happened to all the suitcase bombs that are supposed to be out there? Alexander Lebed and Suitcase Nukes
Don't know about the "suitcase" bombs that are supposed to be out there, but that article also had a reference to the WTC7 building, and why it came down. Conspiracy theory people are always dragging that one out, so here is a good site for debunking that piece of poo. Goto: Debunking 9/11 Conspiracy Theories and Controlled Demolition - World Trade Center 7 The damage to, and poor structural design of the Seven has always left me questioning why it was the home to the emergency response teams though. It seems a poor choice in many ways, but then again who expected the Twin Towers to come down next door?
Didn't mean to imply any 911 connection. Rather that there probably unaccounted nuke devices on the lamb.Disarmament Diplomacy: - Ongoing Speculation about missing Russian 'Suitcase Nukes'
Not a problem "Poppy", just pointing out that the article you linked to was full of false stuff as well. There may well be tactical nukes out there, and unaccounted for. But until one goes off, I won't worry about them personally. The collapse of the USSR left a lot of "stuff" unaccounted for, but some of it isn't a "forever" weapon. They cannot be put on a back closet shelf and left unattended for years, they need to be maintained and sometimes that is deadly to those who now own them if they are unskilled. Thing is, anything from a site which has soooooo many things either flat wrong or slanted must be viewed with a jaundiced eye.
Never thought about the maintenance of the thing. Prolly doesn't come with a expiry date on it either. They'd be like " We have a bomb from 1989, and we can detonate any time we want!". lol. Those Russians are prolly sending them maintenance bills. "Upgraded via cell download. Version 7.2".... "100 million rubles to maintain or we disable unit". Hahaha.
I believe that those small ones have a "shelf life" if unattended, and that article you linked to was from 1997 on the tactical nukes, sooooo.
These are (to myself) too funny not to add. Goto: 10 Ways The Right Is Spinning Bin Laden's Death | Mother Jones Yupper, this is President Obama's downfall for sure.
Just received an email from someone in the big five sided building and he said it pretty well; "it’s been a long time coming, but worth it in the end. Guess he was shot in the eye during the firefight – which leads to the statement “I can’t think of a nicer guy . . . to get shot in the face.” And yes there are many who are celebrating and rallying and I see nothing wrong with that at all. Possibly a form of closure for the family's of those lost on Sept 11th and an act of defiance for the rest of us. Should we refrain in showing our pleasure at the demise of this particular person due to fear of reprisal? NO. That is what they would want. To live in fear of a possible attack in retaliation for cleansing the Earth of a piece of dirt - who has caused untold thousands of deaths - is what they would like us to do. Like it or not, OBL will be in the History books and a topic of conversation for a long time. Just like Hitler, Charles Manson and a few others. For God and Country : Geronimo, Geronimo, Geronimo !
The thing that sticks in my mind is our (American) revulsion/disgust at the Muslims "dancing in the streets" when the towers came down. We were NOT pleased with their joy at our loss, why should we think our reaction to bin Laden's death will not just continue the hate. Killing for peace is like f*c*ing for chastity.
secure him another term (?) ............ hmmmmmmmmmmmmm dancing in the streets that would be ugly, no pics please. I see from some friends in Israel a couple of Muslim backed factions are trying to raise a stink. what else is new. guess they will be expecting some more lame Hamas rocket attacks in the near future what a nutty world
Agreed. Old Navy saying: "One 'oh-sh!t' cancels out a thousand 'attaboys'." Meaning, this one decision that he made still doesn't erase the economy or outrageous gas prices. As for what happens next....buy ammo, and watch out. I'd expect to start hearing of more attempts/attacks around the world (and in the US) within the week, or within the month at the latest. Could be wrong...hope I'm wrong...but I find its usually better to prepare for the worst and be pleasantly surprised than the opposite.
Is there any doubt that if Obama said get Pakistan's ok that bin Laden would have been gone when they arrived????
Clint you know I have the deepest respect for you and continue to learn from you but I doubt there is anything we could do that would please those who hate us. They hate us ... pure and simple. The radicals would only be appeased if we all died tomorrow. It is a twisted form of politics where, to attain power and retain it, they denounce 'outsiders' and gain dominance over the gullible while feeding their (the followers) fears. Wars are started in this way. Not to be flippant but no matter if we quietly gathered and gave Prayers or if we shout in Joy they will still hate us. I question the many demonstrations shown on television in places such as Iraq under Hussein, Syria, Yemen, Mogadishu, etc: as to how many of the "marchers" were told to march or else. One of the things I've noticed is; most of the civilian populations in each of these countries wear "Western" style clothing and want their I-Pods and cellphones as much as anyone in the "Christian" countries. The majority of the people may disagree with us but do not Hate us to the extent espoused by the "Leaders". I can't and won't speak for anyone other than myself. For nearly 10 years I have watched American soldiers leaving their Families and Dieing because this one man had the power to incite his evil. Two young Men my wife watched grow up are dead because of this One man. Soldiers I have emailed, talked to and become friends with, have lost years of their lives, some their marriages, some their leg or other limb, due to this one man. I have a family member serving in Afghanistan now who cannot hold her 3 year old Daughter and say "goodnight" to her because of this one man. So I Rejoice in his assassination. As for continuing the hate, it will end when the Clerics denounce the violence and rein in the radical fringe groups. I won't be holding my breath until that happens and I'll not post again for a while.
This thread took too much of a serious tone, so instead here is a topical joke: After years in hiding, Bin Laden went to bar. Any guesses on what he ordered? A shot with a water chaser.
