What were your thoughts about the discoveries of the Holocaust? Was there any stories of war that you especially remember? When was the most scariest time in the war? Did you ever believe that America was really in danger of getting invaded? Did you lose anyone close in the war? Did you receive letters in the war? How did you feel after the war had finally ended? Do you think WW2 is being covered enough in schools? Any other information during the war helps. The more you can tell me, the better. To Civilians: Did you have anyone you knew who joined the war?(Or was drafted?) How was life before, during, and after the war different? How did you feel about the attack on Pear Harbor and the U.S going to war? What were your thoughts about the some of the Allied leaders?(Eisenhower,MacArthur, FDR,etc) What were some of your thoughts about some of the Axis leaders?(Hirohito,Mussolini,Hitler, etc) What were your thoughts about the use of nuclear bombs to end the war? The interview isn't strictly limited to just U.S. citizens or veterans. U.k, Germany Japan, France, etc can do this interview too
Cheese, If you have no family that served or is still alive, here are a few suggestions: 1) Call or visit a retirement home near where you live and tell them what you need. Some veterans don't talk about their experiences but some do. Maybe they can have you meet a WW2 vet that would be willing to help you. 2) Ask your parents or family member if they have any friends, parents, relatives that were in World War II or grew up in that time period. Someone will hopefully know another person that was in the war. That is all I can think of now, I am sure some other members here will chime in and help you. Hope that helps. Good luck. Aaron
You can also check with the local Veteran's Administration (check the phone book). They may well have a list of local vets who can help you out. Also, don't just depend on the phone. Make a visit to a retirement home, or go to the VA and ask in person. It's less likely they can ignore you that way.
If there's a Veteran's Home in your state, check with them. Also the local VFW may be able to locate a WWII vet in your area.
What questions will you ask? What country (city) are you in? If there is a local WWII museum there might be someone there who grew up in WWII or knows of a local vetran's organization. I've been in quite a few museums, there are often veterans who volunteer there. Might be easier than the retirement home, and more educational

Cheese, this may assist you http://www.ww2f.com/military-servic...h/19600-veteran-interview-question-guide.html ; also, http://www.ww2f.com/information-requests/51490-homework-assignments-veteran-interviews.html; and finally, here which was written by one of our World War II Veterans, Ron Goldstein http://www.ww2f.com/roll-honor-memories-wwii-obituaries/23291-so-you-want-interview-veteran.html Please note that the thread should really be in the Information Request Section of WWII General and I will be asking one of the Moderators who has the power to move it there. Glad you are interested in interviewing a Veteran, and I wish you success. Have you tried contaction your local Legion or equivalent to see if they know of someone interested, or the local Veterans Affairs office as sometimese they have programs specifically set up to connect students with Veterans. In Canada, these usually occur around Remembrance Day in November.
I don't mind moving this thread to another section, but the people I called still haven't replied back and the project's due soon
do you have an RSL in your area, they are usualy run by vets of different wars (mostly WW2 Vets) but if you do you should go check it out
Sry, but I kept waiting for the people to call me back, but they didn't. They just ignored me. I don't think there's really anywhere I can really find other than the retirement homes, and it's too late to schedule a meeting. The project is due soon, so there's not enough time... I would just appreciate it right now if someone could just answer these questions.
Cheese, I'll talk to a man I know very well and see if he can help you. He does not post here (or anywhere else), but he might answer questions.
As it turns out, we will be visiting a veteran today, so I will ask some questions for you, if it will help.
I'll try to answer for my father inlaw who has since past on but we spent many a evening talking to him. You can consider that a voice from the grave as I know his answers as well as I know anything. By the way YOUR good manners got you the reply, you can thank your parents for that.
I'm sorry, but can you give me more than just few word answers? Also, Freebird can tell me about the interview as much as you can if it's not too much of a bother? -Cheese
