my Pop has over 200 models of WW2 aircraft, but one he has been searching for for years is a Me-109F model any sites where i could get him one
Here you go: If you mean "Me109-F", Search Results: "109-f" If you mean "Fw190-F": Search Results: "190-F" I haven't ordered from these fellows before, but a few of the guys I know have and it seems like a good company.
This is probably the best 1/72nd model of one made. Jo-Han 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109 F or G old i. on eBay!
thanks the precise one he is looking for is a 1/36 Bf-109F-6/U, which is not released untill june on the link you posted George
If you want an Me 109F-6 he will have to modify an existing kit of an F-4. The F-6 is a reconnissance version of the F-4 with the armament removed. There is a camera bay installed aft of the cockpit and the machinegun slots in the cowling are faired over as these, along with the engine mounted cannon, were removed.
I do a fair bit of modelling myself, and I think to do the conversion he probably just needs an F-4 kit. The conversion is relativly simple - put putty in the gun holes, cut an appropriate-sized hole behind the cockpit and insert a piece of clear plastic in it (acrylic, thin plexi-glass, etc). Scratch-building the camera might be a bit difficult, but, depending on how focused he is on detail, he could make do with just a simple black plastic box. If he has built a lot, he likely has a lot of "spare" pieces lying around - he might have some things that he can put together to make a reasonable replica of a camera. I don't think there was anything structurally "different" about the F-6. If he is good with computers, he can probably also track down a lot of detail photos of the photo bay on the internet.
thanks everyone. i also do alot of moddeling my self, my Pride and joy of modeling carrer is my M4 Sehrman which i customised taking parts left over from my M1A2 model, it has a 120mm gun instead of the 75mm, has a wider track, track Guards and Tusk reactive plates
thanks for all the info, i found a model shop here in darwin and asked for an F-6 conversion kit which they had, after paying i went to the closes post shop which is on the other side of town and sent it to him
