Working Class Brits...

All good and well,but,I am missing the (IMHO) most important thing ersonalresponsability.
And,of course,always will be a mob at hand,the problem is :keeping the mob calm,and,IMHO,this will not be done by more police,judges,...but by immediate,very severe punishment .

 

In 1981 when I was a mere lad of 19 I stopped at a gas station a couple of miles from my upper-middle class home. As I was fueling up several vehicles pulled up and stopped, they disgorged about 20 or so Kuckkers. As in Ku Klux Klan. They were on a family outing with everything from little kids, to mommies, to about 7-9 redneck 'Bubbas'. No hoods or robes, but each wore a white tee-shirt (naturally) that proudly proclaimed what they were, complete with cross and Confederate battleflag on them.

The station was owned and operated by a Vietnamese immigrant, a touchy subject in south Texas back then, and served a clientell of mostly lower-middle class to poor blacks. I lived on the good (west ) side of I-45 Interstate, they lived on the not so good (east ) side of I-45. Due of a quirk of Texas roads people like me had to pass through this neigborhood to get home. To ease your mind the Kluckkers did not live in my neigborhood, so far as I know at least.

I had to go inside to pay for my gas and got into line. In front of me was a black man about my age or a little older, behind me was a Kluckker about 7 foot tall and 4 foot wide. Milling all around us was all of his bigger cousins. The black man began to survey our eclectic crowd, when his eyes fell upon me standing behind him. His eys held a question. Who was I, and what side was I on. A fair question as I was 6'2" and about 200 pounds and could have passed as the runt of this Kluckker litter even though I was not wearing the Klan 'colors'.

All I could do was offer a half smile and shrug my sholders as if to say 'Man, all I want to do is get out of here alive' He seemed to understand, nod his head slightly and returned the half smile. We had an agreement, He was Switzerland and I was Sweden. By the time I had paid for my gas and returned to my car, two Montgomery County Sheriff's cars pulled into the station. Probably called by the station owner and they got there lickity-split.

Nothing ever really happened at the gas station, yet most of us seemed to know that it was a very real possibility. This was as close as I have ever gotten to a riot or mob, and frankly as close as I ever wish to. I had nothing to fear from 'Mr. Switzerland', but as to the other black men who looked at the kluckkers with contempt, and the Kluckkers who returned the same look, I had no way to garruntee my neutrality would be respected.

If things had gotten ugly, and with most present unaware of where I stood, how would the police who arrived just after it begun? I would hate to have to receive swift, and severe punishment for being at the wrong place, at very much the wrong time.

Do you really think what you wrote? Are you aware that some of our members could be offended by what you say? Besides how could you generalize this ? There are good and bad people in all jobs and many nations have fine police officers who serve their country in a professionnal way. For a start I have a high respect for people who are ready to risk their lives on a daily basis to make our lives better.

I hate to push this...but what is a working class accent..Accents are localised dialects..Middle class scousers sound no different from most working class scousers..Both are instantly verbally recognisable as scouse.

Okay, for all the precious princesses out there:
There is NO working class.
They DONOT live in any specific areas.
They DONOT have accents peculiar to them.

Government sanctioned revenge killing is the last thing we need reinstated in the western world (Minus the countries that still have it), public executions is where it starts... we've seen what both elected and un-elected governments that are given this power are also capable of. Are you trolling or something?

Mobs will always exist in our imperfect democracies, they are also necessarily for it as well to show that we aren't heading too far down the authoritarian path with governments sticking their fingers into everybody's pies to the point of people being to frightened to act out. I personally would have been glad if there were riots about a white man being charged in the UK for defending himself from a Muslim or African immigrant, its been a while since the west has protested something that is relevant and urgent, and I imagine there of plenty of native and immigrant Brits alike that are at the point of rioting regarding the PC bull that is running rampant over there.

 

This newspaper is well known for being anti-immigrant and anti anthing not remotely right wing in tooth and claw. A sort of 'Fox News' but written by people with more than one brain cell!
It may interest you to know the same paper has taken a firm stance against US policy in Afghanistan and believes the UK's interest have been sold to the USA by lapdog Governments. Hardly a week goes by without an article showing how spineless our leaders are when standing up for what is best for the UK. It would be fair to say the paper wants us cut adrift from, in their words 'a war the US is losing and is too proud to admit it can not win'. They recently gave a lot of space to a new book that has as its theme the belief that the USA is the main danger to word peace and that most of the conflicts since 1945 have, at the very least, US fingerprints all over them.
Still want to tout it as the answer to our problems?

 

The UK has its national interests and the US ours.

And just what do you know about FOX news? You're a regular viewer or do you just listen to what others tell you what youre supposed to believe in?

 

What do I know about Fox News?
It belongs to Rupert Murdoch. The man who had his newspapers blackmail UK Goverments for 30 years.
A man who had his reporters hack an already dead teenage murder victims phones and delete messages to make room for other pleading texts from her parents asking where she was.
A man who corrupted the Police force in the UK by paying them for protection and information.
The biggest scandal in the UK for many a decade.
An evil man if ever there was one.
I have seen the level of debate that passes as 'impartial' on Fox and like Murdoch's papers in the UK it is nothing more than insult and character assassination of all those who do not think the same way as Rupert.

It was strange (during the UK 'riots') to see Sikh, Turkish and Pakistani shopowners band together to protect their property.
Contrast this with the English Defence League (EDL) a bunch of racist anti-Islamic thugs who turned up to 'protect the whites' and ended up fighting with the police!

I thought that the first and most important mission of a government is to protect the citizen from the mob,from the criminals .If government is unable/unwilling to do this,people will do justice themselves .
Beware:no society can live without law and order(=in anarchy).

 

It's been great fun watching assorted 'social commentators' floundering about while they try and nail down a cause for these riots, hunting for blame to lay anywhere other than the opportunists themselves, cherrypicking stories to fit their own dogmas, as is their wont.

Cac lets be serious..Britain has an underclass as do all nations your own included..Working class is not that underclass..we created them as you did yours and every nation on the planet.. Im at a loss as to why anyone seems surprised that Britain is any different to any other nation.Mybe some see us still as summer days..cricket and pimms...that world does still exist..in country side of cotswolds..life goes on..no riots..suns shining..locals playing cricket and my sheep are out of grass..im surprised more by my pm who enthralls at arab spring folk using social media to ring out freedom..but then threatens to close em down like an old stalinist in his own country.
