We don't do homework. Research your own conclusions then ask us for a critique.

You could look into why Japan felt it necessary to attack the USA and its allies...And why Hitler thought..sod it...we will might as well do it too...Start a few years before..in fact start in 1918. Earlier if you can.

1.) FDR's covert (& blatant) support of Britain in 1940-41
    see: US Neutrality Patrols
    Cash and carry

    2.) US support for China
see: events led to the Pearl Harbor.

3.) US opposition to Japan's expansionist policies.

    The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Are you telling me that someone writing a dissertation, presumably for a history degree of some sort, does not already have his research materials lined up? It's August. Kind of waited to the last minute, eh? And if, indeed, for a history degree, you don't already know the answer? You should visit your adviser, you need to be just a little more narrow in your subject.

Read "Paris 1919", by M.Macmillan and "A Peace to End All peace", D.Fromkin. Start there. Or as they say you must start at the beginning. As Churchill called it "another thirty years war"
