Was wandering in the net, posting in Delphi(I enjoy some of the political discussions there, but won't discuss politics here unless someone else tries to rope me into an argument), and listening to some music(youtube has its merits). A little about me. I am a licensed A&P and prefer to work on birds that were new at least ten years before I was born. I've been building models off and on since I was shorter than knee-high to a cricket. I also know a bit about aviation history. I say a bit, because there are many many more people who might know a lot more than I do, so I'm always willing to learn more.ic Right now, I'm trying to do research on a DO 217 in 1/48 scale, and am trying to find out a few more structural details than seems to be commonly available(such as the structure of the nacelles and engine mounts). While a plastic model is nice, I wouldn't mind trying to tackle an rc scale rendering of it someday. I'm one of those old-fashioned modellers in that I like to design by drawing on paper if I can(when I was but a wee lad playing truant, computers we have available were less than pipe dreams in the pages of scifi stories).
howdy, welcome to the forum, we've got a lot of bird watchers on here, im sure some of them will be able to give you some ideas.
Welcome, maxmwill. Great to have you in attendance! Modelers and aviation enthusiasts abound here, many having extensive and detailed information to share. Am not sure a Do-217's rudders would be large enough to "have a bit of fun" while flying an RC model, but... "Go for it!" What a fascinating scale model it would be to see!
Welcome and enjoy your stay with us. This is a great place and I hope you'll like it as much as I do.
Well, they wouldn't have to be exact scale. Stand-off scale, or even stand-way-off-with eyes-squinty scale might be acceptable, as I'm not exactly one for museum scale models when flying for fun is the name of the game. What about the other types, such as the DO 17 with single rudder?
