    Hello,
I am Michael Stone, son of veteran wildcat PFC Charlie Stone of north Alabama.
My dad carried a camera with him through the Pacific. I started out scanning the images and posting them as his website.
This snowballed into trying to reconstruct the movements and actions of the 323rd Infantry and the Wildcat Division.
I have since included scans of the Division newsletters (that we have) and pictorial supplements.
Correspondents have lent their own images and memorabilia for me to share.

While my dad went off to basic training, my someday mom was working in munitions.
Working for Uncle Sam, she made detonators for shells and bombs as one of the "Bursterettes" of Line 1 at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

    G'day SonofStone...
Did your dad move up to Hellcats? Was he a fly leatherneck?

Dad was Army Infantry, Wildcat Division, 323rd Regiment Company H - Heavy Weapons I think. He went in to Peleliu to mop up behind the Marines.

    Howdy SonofStone.

I'm bit further south of you, near the capital city.

Do you wish to post the pics your father made?

Do you have any stories you woulld like to include?

We would all be certainly interested in anything you would like post.

My dad cried when they told him the Japs had surrendered. But, he was at Leyte doing KP at the time, peeling a load of onions; so maybe that was why.

Dad said he did basic training three times. One would be Alabama/Arkansas, followed by desert training in Arizona and Jungle training in Hawaii. They had training in the Philippines in 1945, and I've read of training at New Caledonia in 1944. They also practised amphibious landing at Hawaii and Guadalcanal.

My signature hotlinks to my website on the Wildcats. It is a Division (WW2) timeline with loads of photos, scans of 1945 newsletters and pictorial supplements, travelogues by the 323rd HQ Company about life in the Philippines and Japan, and the move from one to the other.
There are also links to related sites and sources.
