My late father was a radioman in the Marines during WWII on Okinawa and in N. China immediately after the war. He was in the 1st Marine regiment Hq & Service company.

Just wondering what the H&S Company actually did and its composition. I can imagine, as a radioman probably relaying info from regiment down to the battalions and other companies???
Anyone have some more detailed input?

    Thanks in advance.

H&S companies consist of all the staff function sections, Admin, Intel, Supply, Plans, Training, Comm, basically all the S-Shops personnel are assigned to Hide and Slide.

I can't speak for Marines HQ (God love 'em); but I have a couple of narratives from within an Infantry HQ from 1945 Philippines and Japan.
