Wandering around a taking a few pics of a Live Car Show here in Billings. By "Live" they mean these cars all operate, none are pushed into place off the trailers, or carriers. Most are licensed to drive on the road, and sadly my weak rebuilt knees just allowed me to scope out about half of the cars in the North Park. It is three blocks from east to west and a block and a half from north to south. BIG area, and full of cars and owners. View attachment 17013
They are beauties, Clint. Our local show is at the end of July. I hope to attend some of it. I have three cousins with show cars; a Firebird, a Mustang, and a Nash. All are driveable.
Crikey. The number of really old Fords there reminds me that america was The Land of The Model "T". In our country, these lovely antiques are not exactly a common sight, but in the home of Ford, there must be MANY more people who have access to Fords and parts, not to mention that there are a lot more people with the money to afford to restore a car of that vintage. and this was just a country car show? Amazing. What a truly rich country the U.S. really is!
This show is an annual event here in Yellowstone County, Billings Montana. It has been going on for a number of years (five I think), and we get entries from Canada (the Kubelwagon, Jag and the Austin), and many neighboring states as well. The furthest one away that I noticed a license plate for was Missouri, the plate was current on one of the Packards, and I assume the car was driven here as the owner was still wiping it down when I showed up. While there are a huge number of Ford models there, every car make you can think of was there. Some can be confused with Fords since the idea of "body style" was an evolving one. The very first image, the red with black fenders is a Willys/Kaiser. There are a couple of Chevy coupes and sedans that also look almost Ford like, and until you spot the little "bowtie" you might be fooled. But you are right, the Fords really are the dominant make represented until you get into the fifties. There was even a "non-restored" Ford Edsel there, it was the Ranger model and not in very good shape so I didn't take a pic of it.
