You're correct Kai, A sitting President rarely has a powerful, direct, effect upon the immediate day to day economy. A American President may be the most powerful person on the planet, but they must work though layers which are not designed to move quickly. Much of our economy is controlled more directly by people who are not elected (CEO's etc.) and the perception of the average person who spends their income based on how they feel. Much of America's economic woe's stem from the Sub-Prime fiasco. Mr. Obama was quite successful in portraying Bush 43 as the primary cause for this in the mind of voters. The truth is that the primary cause predated his term and the foundation laid by members of Congress (Both Parties) who to curry favor back home relaxed the rules and the Wall Street wonks looking for a new way of making money without actually providing any real product or service. This is not to say Bush 43 is blameless, unfunded wars, unrealistic political and military goals and a lack of focus on the problem played their part. Absent of 9-11 none of this occurs and perhaps a near depression is only a mild recession. I'm walking on thin ice here from the perspective of some, so I'll leave it there on this. Ironically Mr. Obama is suffering from much the same. He was elected by people who expected many things that so far have not been realized. The closure of Gitmo, a comprehensive health care program, quicker end to military operations just have not been realized as many who voted in 2008. This was reflected in the 2010 elections and the close election this year considering that Romney is not the most charismatic of politicians.
I still have some ties to the Special Operations community, and Obama pretty much pee'd away his goodwill for giving the "green light" on Bin Laden, by screwing up, then covering up, the Benghazi debacle. I had a friend send me this. Pretty much sums up the prevailing attitude among those guys.
From the 'other'........... True belasar, Here in the North Land we have been inundated with ad's for and against .....The "For" commercials are outnumbering the "Against" nearly 5 to 1. Something that has always been said by both sides is "It wasn't the President fault, Congress was controlled by the opposition" or "It was the Presidents fault because he wouldn't work with the Congress that was controlled by the opposition".
Obama was not with Seal Team 6. He was also not with the Seals who died at the US Consul in Benghazi.
Ultimately it resides with the President. As for Benghazi, hopefully this will put a higher level of scrutiny on all contract security companies. We have the best security forces in the World, our own military, lets use them. Blue Mountain Group failed, the CIA failed, the President & Secretary of State failed.
Perhaps it is not the most objective stance, but I immediately discredited Romney as being a president I would respect when he stated that he opposed gay marriage, regardless of what religious convictions he is entitled to have, seriously don't hate on a loving couple that wants to get married.... its 2012
Now this is interesting; In Online Poll, the World (Except for China) Votes Obama | TIME.com Most of the world — 81% — would vote for Barack Obama, according to a new MSN poll, which surveyed 570,000 people in 36 countries. But perhaps the most surprising result is that Mitt Romney might have an unlikely international ally: the People’s Republic of China. Fifty-two percent of the online readers polled by MSN there preferred the Republican presidential candidate, even after he accused China of being a nation of cheats and of stealing intellectual property. It goes deeper than that Roger. 1.) Two security officers? They had prior to the incident, requested additional protection assets, but were denied. 2.) When the stuff hit the fan the civilian leadership did not act and the 4 Americans died. This was bad enough, but then they circulated the B.S. it was a spontaneous reaction to an anti-Mohammed video and not a planned action. 3.) Then they quietly fired the General over the region for attempting to help ".....General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready. General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command." from the Washington Times Good security contractor, bad security contractor, that really wasn't the issue here.

Interesting thanx to Obama in New Jersey: Photos: President Obama, Gov. Chris Christie tour New Jersey
interesting the Euro take on the elections from you guys as relatives are giving a different view to me with they don;lt care and glad they are not Americans with the two fools running for office, whcih I totally agree with.... am going to admit for me personally am watching more of Deutsche Welle and other Euro TV news media which seem to give a better and even more fair light to the nominees in the past till about a week ago.... no matter who wins America will be fine then we can cash all this silly stuff to the stump and then be rid of it.....
Ditto. All I know is regardless of who is sitting in the WH, if he has to sell me his "successful" 4 yrs and all he has to show for it is a divided nation......time to get some fresh blood. I know this. Our election process is a disgrace and long overdue for an overhaul. The two party system does not work anymore. The power is no longer the lobbyists but the news media. It is no wonder nothing gets done.
If 80% of advertising in the US is about telling bad things about the other candidate just wonder why on Earth either should win? Save the 80% of money, which was if I read correctly a new record of money spending, and put it to charity. Let the 20% decide what happens.
Actually Kai now that I think about it, I think it's more like 100 percent. I don't remember hearing either side say HOW they would get the economy going or HOW they would balance the budget. One has said he has a plan but it would take too much time to explain. Trust Me. The other has said his plan is working, just taking a little longer. Trust Me. Like has been said before in other posts, We will survive! Hell, we've made it for nearly 250 years and most of the time in spite of those who "represent' us.
I wonder is it feasibly possible to remove the hands of future presidential nominee's ? .................. so they will stop finger pointing !
Now this is high-tech ballot stuffing. Vote for whom you like, the machine changes the count. What if the voter hadn't really paid attention? I personally am all for paper ballots, and absentee mail-in ballots to boot like Oregon (or is it Washington State?). Take the ballot out of the mail, fill it out on your own time and mail it back.
