see in my album pics of helmet. Its a genuine one. i once got it together with Kar98 ammo pouches, bajonetholder, gasmask+container. And guess what: i gave everything except the helmet to someone else.
Last year i went to a militariamarket and found out its worth 600-700 euro's :)
(It has a stamp in it 1349 or 1649 but is difficult to read.) It was very rusty so i cleaned it and underneath the layer of rust the decal revealed itself more and more while carefully removing rust.

Great helmet you have there Ruud and nice you gave the "smaller items to a friend. The value you quote might be a litte excessive in my opinion . It's the price you'll see at some militaria fairs, it doesn't mean it sells for this price. I'd estimate it at around 450-500 euros based on a similar one with even better quality decal sold to a friend last year .
If you ever want to trade this for U.S. militaria or sell it, let me know, I can always use good quality helmets.

Very nice M35 you have there, Ruud.

I would tend to agree with Skippers price estimate of 450 to 500 euros. Militaria fair dealers do tend to bump up their prices and after a little gentle haggling it is very rare that I ever pay what they are asking for an item.

Can you make out the other stamping on the inner edge of the shell? I can then tell you which company manufactured it.

The other stamp should either be with the first one you found or further around the rim towards where the chin strap would be attached.

I confirm , nothing to add except it would be on the right side near the chin stap buckle.

@ Panther @ SKipper : its difficult to read , it could be somethin like : 5KO64 of hk084 of hk064
So that would be an Helmets made by the Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke firm ?
Not far from the Czechoslovakian border once lay the helmet factory Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G. Beginning in 1935 this factory served as a primary manufacturer of steel helmets for the Armed Forces (Wehrmacht), Police (Polizei), and Armed-SS (Waffen-SS) . The Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke plant, along with the Eisenhüttenwerke firm in Thale, was one of the only two facilities involved in helmet production until the end of 1937. After 1937 three other firms were added to the total involved in producing steel helmets in an effort to supply the growing Wehrmacht with updated equipment. Helmets made by the Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke firm were marked with the letters "SE" meaning "Sächsische Emaillier." These initials were placed on the inside left rim along side a two digit number denoting the metric shell size of the helmet. In 1943 the firm changed initials which resulted in the new shell marking "hkp." The "hkp" initials were later moved to the rear of the helmet and continued to be used through May 1945. These initials are generally found on M1942 helmets since they were placed into production mid-war at about the time the firm changed its designation. The Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke was the second largest producer of German steel helmets (Stahlhelme) during the Second World War.

Hmm, you'll have to read this again Ruud. a M-1935 (early model) is not likeky to have markings which started only in 1942 and were uually marked on M-42 models. Could it be EH64?

It is an SE / hkp produced M40. This is obvious from the first profile pic of the vents unique to this factory. No factory existed with the initial EH, I think you might mean EF.

Thanks for your input , I hadn't been back for a while here but have reached the same conclusion when checking for maker initials. Btw I was surprised how few helmet makers actually existed, I'd have expected a whole bunch considering the 25 million plus production.

No problem, I browse sometimes here but don't post much. I only really collect German lids, and there doesn't seem to be much interest here in that field?

Only 5 WW2 producers yes; Q, EF, SE (hkp later) ET (ckl later) and NS. 6 if you count the arcane qvl factory, not much at all is known about them. They only made the M42 model, and only for the last few months of the war.

There are many nice helmets to be seen in the what's your newest militaria threads . Also if you like WWI ones I'd suggest you have a look in the Imperial militaria one. You have been looking in the uniform /gear section , but in fact many helmets are in the "other militaria" section. I even posted a few Pickelhaube and child Weimar Helmet.

I will have a search around, I don't yet collect WW1 lids but I will do at some point I'm sure. I would like a haube, and I've always thought the kid's helmets were pretty cool. I will probably get one of those sooner or later too. Is there a classfieds section here?
