Here's an interesting photo gallery I came across on LIFE magazine's website. Apologies if this is a re-post. "Scenes from a Christmas party in Munich thrown by Adolf Hitler for his generals, 1941." Nazi Christmas Party, Munich, 1941 | Inside a Nazi Christmas Party: Photos From Munich in 1941 | LIFE.com
I think these were posted before, but it's always good to re-introduce them for the newer members. (I'm also too lazy to look for the earlier post)
Yes, its been here before, but as we always get new members here who have never seen it, its worth another look.
First: Thanks for the link. There is more than just photos! We have seen these photos before but the context was rather different. The text accompanying photos is very informative and it sheds more light on the Nazi abuse of Christianity. It is worthy to read it carefully.
Nazi Germany, could at time, be surprisingly practical in making maximum use of what it had, while at the same time throwing away other advantages for the most absurd reason's.
Just look at these grim faces on the photos; that “celebration” looks more like a funeral repast. There is no smile on all these soured faces! Nazis are really scary people.
That's possibly because they are not having fun and are wondering what they are doing there. Many of these guys look like lost kids following the herd and ready to obey to any order...Quite explicit in fact.
Ah, I understand now, why they were so sour: boys were young and wanted to have some fun but someone forgot to invite girls to the party!
I would say that in 1941 these lads would be showing up for the food...... I wonder if the menu was vegetarian!
Vegetarian menu a-la Adolf: Menu 1. Weisswurst with original Handelmäyers mustard Menu 2. Wienersnitzel with Kartofel PS: some authors claim that Hitler was vegetarian but he eat Weisswurst (white sausage from Bavaria)
You have gathered a incorrect impression, George Patton is a well respected member of the forum and has, to my knowledge, never offered any comment or post dis-respectfull to any other member or his namesake. His only flaw is being Canadian, but then no one is perfect. (Texan's come close though)
No, it is not. And may I ask how I am disrespecting him? I chose the name because: a) I never use my real name to register on online forums (and neither do most people) b) Its better than something like 'abcd192', or 'jim19' c) Its a WW2 forum -- isn't a WW2-themed 'forum handle' appropriate? d) I have great respect for G.S. Patton. I have even gone so far as to visit his grave in Hamm Luxembourg. EDIT: As others have said, this is not the place to discuss this. Feel free to contact me via PM if you see a problem. Lets get back on topic.
Even more OT but I never have like the term "disrespect". Commonly accepted now I know but still has the negative slang associations as far as I'm concerned. As far as I'm concnerned using the name of a historical figure has no innate value as far as respect or lack there of (if anything it is a sign of respect). How the person behaves may have implications either way. Which is still off topic. This should have been handled via PMs between the posters and/or the admins as far as I'm concerned. I will note that I haven't seen any of the more long term memebers complain about this usate. Now can we get back to the topic at hand?
Paradoxically, these photos just stress the real quality of Germans! Despite all efforts of Nazis to deprive Germans from the Christ, today majority of Germans are good Christians or at least respect Christian traditions. Nazis have vanished.
Yes Tamino....Speer was right in assuming that the ruins of his constructs would look more magnificent than the original designs. And they do. The magnificent aspect is just for the fact that they are RUINS, and not functioning. Just the type of fate free thinking people like to see of a government devoted to lies, lies, and more damn lies. By the way George S. Patton Jr. is my very favourite General. The 'bull' was all a show. He was a humane, sensitive and highly intelligent person, and I thank the country that bore him for the privelage of having someone like him fight for US. He would have been a formidable opponent for the Allies. No lack of respect for "Georgie" here.... If you wanted to get under Patton's skin, you just had to call him "The Green Hornet". Patton watchers will know exactly what I'm talking about.
