Migration is going well, but then again we did have a dry run here first. A few hours still to go. Getting a DB error at the portal page, but that was expected. The poor, bolt-on nature of the portal is the reason we moved to Invision.
Just tried logging on to WW2Talk. Didn't realise the change was so imminent, but really looking forward to it especially after seeing the changes here.
Have just spotted this thread. after commenting on another one. If nothing else, it reminds me how much I rely on ww2talk for my daily fix Ron
URGH Just noticed your Avatar. It's identical to the one we were awarded in Whitby, Yorkshire in Jan 1943 after passing our Driver/Op test ! Thanks for the memory Ron
RAF siggies Ron...I'm always thinking of getting it as a tattoo..but I don't suppose I ever will...It was apparantly awarded to siggies after formation of RAF or at least in the early days...As unless spoken to by an officer the officer could only be approached in conversation if he spoke first, or if the other party was at least an NCO...Being that siggies needed to pass stuff on especially ground siggies....they got the sparks badge and anyone wearing it was then able to pass your message so to speak....Hillarious but supposedly true...

It's going to take awhile to move the old forum. Imagine rebuilding this. That wasnt built in a day either.
Apologies to all for the delay. We've run into a few hurdles, but I've hired a real tech guru for this and everything is moving ahead properly, if a little slower than we'd like. A task like this is a matter of slow and steady is the race, and going for speed creates all manner of problems now and down the road. I'm happy to say that the most difficult and sensitive part, that of the importing message data over the to new system, all 550,000 posts, has been completed. I can't really give a useful timeframe, but we are close to the end of this.
First time I've go this message when clicking on ww2talk on 'My Bookmarks'. On VBulletin nomore. It's quite exciting .
