If you've been following the discussion in this section recently, then you'll know we had some interest in a Combat Mission tournament. The game to be played will be CM:BB, Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin, with one of the maps already selected from this thread here http://www.ww2f.com/topic/16337-mussolinis-treasure-maps/

We'd like to resolve the tourney in 2013, so this will be a mini with four players. We are willing to do 6 or 8 if we get enough interest, but 4 is enough to kick off. So far we have half the roster needed to begin a tournament, with two players entering yesterday.

The start of the tournament will be mid August, specific date TBD. A prize will be awarded to the winner.

    Current entrants (competitors paired alphabetically)
    Hawkerace versus Mussolini
    O.M.A. versus Tomcat
Otto >> will challenge the tournament winner in an honor match

    Round 1 Map: Trollville II
A rework of the previous Trollville map, now only 36 turns as opposed to 42, some slight terrain alterations, a few different unit deployments, and most significantly a stack of three large victory flags (900 Points) on either side of the bridges to encourage cross river assaults.

    Round 2 Map: River Meeting
Another River map with a twist. Both sides start off on both sides of the river and must assault along both banks to be victorious.

Oh boy, those maps still exist on here?!? 5 Years Old...I've have to DL them again and see if they're still evenly balance. Otherwise, I may try my hand at creating some new maps before the start of the Tourney.

I recall Tolleville being even, in that the map is identical on each side and both side must cross the river to win. I remember an infantry only map with a hill in the middle also, th eother map I cannot recall.

I still have the original games, is there a patch for win7 on the BF site, or do you need to buy the entire game again to play on a win7 machine?

I believe there is a patch on the site that you can find.

Trollville, according to the old posts, was a blood bath.

The Infantry Only Map was even too.

I just threw together a new map. Quite even as well - a river in the middle, with an Island containing the main Flag, and a series of Fords containing the other two, forcing an engagement over there. I can't figure out how to add 'purchase your own units' into a man-made scenario though.

Trollville was a bloodbath. Assuming we will play both sides simultaneously to even any imbalance?

Do we have a maplist already? I'd like to review the battlefields if we can.

There is a link in the first post of this thread to the 'treasure box' of maps. I'll post the most recent one I threw together there as an alternative to Trollville.

Looks like we are getting the band back together! Welcome back Robert!

The tourney starts next month, so we have time. Musso & i will set the scenarios to be short, so that we can finish this off by the end of 2013. As we now have 4 players, the tourney is now official!

Depending on the date, I might step in as well.

Hopefully you guys can accept defeat if thats the case.

    Those be fighting words!

I can create a smaller map (more in line with the Inf. Only one) that will be 15 - 20 turns. Should make it take less time that way. I think on average, a turn a week seems the most likely option for the slowest of us (2 emails per turn if I recall - movement orders + viewing the combat).

If only we could have a hearts of iron session, that would be fresh!

    Can't wait.

I posted in the HOI section about the game me and my mate play. He is GMT and I am GMT -7, but we usually play all day on the weekends. All the HOI 3 expansions + Black ICE mod.

Welcome to another brave soldier in the tournament!

Hawker, I'm the fourth competitor in the tourney, but would rather not play as time is a bit scarce for me right now. Happy to give you the 4th slot. Tournament starts in mid Aug and will only be 2 rounds as we have 4 players, so this shouldn't be too tough to fir it. I'm workign with Musso now to finalize the maps.

Ah, I'm not a big fan of Hoi 3, the battalion and expansive provinces keeps it a bit over burdened and less adventurous.

Well I'm down - but that is me saying it now, I too get pretty busy. I'd want to put myself on the reserves list, not neccesarily debut.

I'll put you on the reserve list Hawker. I think though that we should be able to get two short maps of CMBB complete by the end of the year, which is a 5 month window. Not sure how busy you are, but I thinks that's fairly doable.

**Updated first post to include new entrants**

Doesn't matter if you all join or not, I'm looking forward to winning the first place award.

Tomcat - I think that is the Inf Only Map :) You don't like the Massacre-in-the-Forest aspect of it?
