    Hi Skua,

Basically a good idea to make supplies of ammo readily available which, in practice was not so - at least not when employed by my Regiment the North Irish Horse. If memory serves, each Squadron had three which were towed by the troop in reserve. I do know units of 6th Armoured Division had them but not how useful they found them to be.
Somewhere I have a photo of one of our Churchills with one in tow - will try to locate it. - in the meantime there is a picture of a model on:

    All the best, Gerry

    Thanks Gerry,

I´ve never seen a photo of a real Rota Trailer, so I´m very interested indeed in seeing your photo of the Churchill towing one. The Rota Trailer seems like a sound idea, except perhaps for carrying fuel in the wheels ( how did that work out by the way ? ). What sort of trouble did you have with it ?

And thanks for the link. I´m an enthusiastic modeller, and I found a lot of stuff there I haven´t seen before. :)

    Oh yeah, absolutely!
Gerry, (or anyone else, ofcourse) can you explain to me what that SdKfz 8 with that sort of bungalow on it is??? I've never seen such a thing before and can't exactly understand the use of it...

    Hi Panzer P

It was designed to tow artillery pieces. The "bungalow" covers two
lockers in which ammo was stored.

    There are some photos on:

    As ever,
    Gerry

    Re: rota

Interesting photograph, one of a very few showing Churchills of KingForce preparing for action at Alexandria, Egypt.
