hello all my name is john carr aka trymee, first off i like this forum its very informative on the charactoristics of all tanks which, I have been trying to determine y a panzer can take out a t34 in 1 shot,I play a game online called armored assault, its a massively online WW2 tankin simulation game, and in game panzers rule!!The game consists of almost all Gvs that were in WW2,for that time period what tank if any, was capable of defeating a panzer G or H model? any answers i can get could be helpfull. Oh and btw, playing armored assault online is free and the download of the game is free, if you like realism gameplay , check it out at www.totalsims.com ,, which also hosts a massively online game called warbirds 2004, a WW2 flight combat game, not many children play ,its amostly adult oriented game, very respectfull, mature players but it is a subscription game but the download is free to play offline. thanks guys and i hope to be a welcomed addition to this forum,,,,, check your six and stay well

Hi Trymee, welcome to the Forum!

    Just one question:

when you say "panzer G or H model", what kind of panzer do you mean?
'Panzer' is just the German equivalent of 'tank'.

    The Germans used:
    Panzer I
    Panzer II
    Panzer III
    Panzer IV
    Panzer V
    Panzer VI

You could try checking out the 'tanks' section of www.military.cz/panzer if you are unsure of which type is which.
    Happy hunting!

    Ricky

    Ah, Panther & Tiger!

    Right.

    Both were very good tanks.

Panther was a medium tank with thick, well-sloped armour and a formidable 75mm gun. Only the better AT guns (17pdr, for instance, or the US 76mm gun on the late Shermans) had a good chance of knocking it out from the front, but the side armour was much thinner, and it was really quite vulnerable to attack from the sides.

Tiger was basically an armoured box with an 88mm gun on top. The armour was hardly sloped (if at all) but thick, and few Tigers were destroyed by hits on the frontal armour. Again, the sides (and rear) were more vulnerable.

    Best tanks to defeat them?

    Sherman Firefly
    Sherman with 76mm gun
    Comet
    IS-2

But do be careful, and try to get round the sides if possible!

Funny that they are referred to as Panzer G and H. Whatever would have given them the thought to call these tanks that?

Welcome to the forum, trymee. I'm glad to hear you enjoy it here.

About the game, does it include tank destroyers? If so there are a number of them that can have a shot at the Tigers and Panthers. For example, the M10, M18 and M36 American Tank destroyers, the Russian ISU122, ISU152, and the British Archer type tank destroyers could take them out.

    And of course the Pershing...

no they are limited on the number of tanks they incorperated into the game, but are supposed to slowly introduce more into it./they put more emphasis into the flight sim aspect of the game, which is over 50 different type of aircraft, they have however added ju 87s into the armored assault sim which is pretty good at taking out almost any tank, provided of course that you are an acurate bomber,in both warbirds( which i was talkin of at 1st}and armored assault they have 4 different tanks for axis and 4 for allied, nevertheless its awesome gameplay, as far as g and h models, even on your tanks page the panzer is referred to as a g, didnt see an h ,or reffered to as h anyway, the tank was there. :)) invitation is open to any1 who would like to try armored assault, we have events on tuesdays, est usa , at 9 pm, is alot of fun ,, i know u guys would have a blast, and armored assault is free, warbirds is a 2 week free trial when you join, if you like 13.95 mo, if not interested after 2 weeks, no obligation, you quit. both free download to keep as your own, indefinately, and thanx for the welcome roel,,, check ur six <S> TRYMEE

They pretty much say that you get a two-week free trial period before they begin charging. They don't say anywhere that they won't charge, and that the credit card is merely a formality.
