It is obviously repaired then junked before capture. I did mention the pilot was killed so he must have hit the headrest or gone through the canopy which is most probable.(No canopy present).... He had an accident taking off and may have done a nose over which probably damaged the sturcture or integrity of the fuselage. The two other pics we talked about are shown in the gruppe fighter history and says that the pilot was killed. Not too much details other than what I had sent you through Carl.

    Kiwi :

Just read the Wehrmacht-awards postings. Maybe, but he could have been hit while taxing and shoved off into a ditch and then pulled upright, and good grief this sounds terrible but something during taxing could of hit his canopy thus killing him, thus no canopy and he may have been decapitated and no apparent damage to the a/c body. Too bad we have no clear indication of what the inside of the cockpit looks like......is it burnt out possibly ? Internal engine faliure and gas/oil leakage into the cockpit ? Still many questions like the I. gruppe emblem on a second gruppe machine too.....hmmmmmm

Thanks Erich, Ya know thats sound posible, something hitting the canopy. Maybe that is why the is also no radio areial?

The cockpit doesn't look to bad, although its hard to tell.

Would this guy have any sort of records?
    Thanks again

The plane in the picture actually looks kinda fake-more like a superimposed shot on a desert background!!!

Interesting ! I will have to check the I./JG 27 book for those two pics. Also I would have to purchase the copies of the two pics to have them posted since they are part of his collection.
