This has to be the best April Fool of the current Millennia.  I just hope that I live through it to post here again. And that Roel has a GOOD sense of humour & a very forgiving nature. Otherwise it's "Goodbye" from me. Here follows a few choice exerpts, just in case you weren't in on the original LOTR thread & the subsequent "leg pull" sonofecthelion wrote: That's very true Roel. You too may have a Brownie point. Roel replied. Exept that I don't know what that is all about; Brownie points? Brownie members? S.O.E wrote The Brownies are The British Elite fighting force, hand-picked by British Generals from the cream of the SAS. Only about 1 in every 500 SAS men have a chance of even being considered. They earn points based upon time of service, heroic actions and saving people's lives. Thusly, being awarded a Brownie point is very high praise indeed. Are there any other UK members on this forum that can expand on this? As the 'Brownie' actions are very secret. david wrote S.O.E. I am suprised that you seem to know so much about this "closed" organisation. I always assumed that the recruits were chosen by high ranking officials from M.I.6. Not from the regular army. I have heard a rumour that they have been involved in the testing of the top secret new hand-held surface to air missile codenamed "Brownowl". There was a rumour that the United States were so impressed by this organisation, that they attempted to duplicate it by raising one of their own. However they fudged their first ever mission, and were promptly disbanded, and since then have been known as the "Fudge Brownies". Dave wrote dont foreget the brownies work in iraq and afganistan david wrote I hadn't heard that the Brownies were in Iraq. I must go and visit their top secret web-site to see if they can confirm this. There isn't usually much there, due it's sensative nature. But I may be at least able to download the new recruits "Oath of Alliegance". I'm sure it's quoted there somewhere. Brownies originally formed in 1914. Not now regular army as nomeclature is as follows........... Section = Sixies. Platoon = Pack. Commanding Officer = Guider. Special yellow dress uniforms. Camo gear for active service. Medals = Badges of honour.Worn on special sash. Oath of alliegance, taken at enrollment ceremony in presence of reigning monarch. "I promise that I will do my best: To love my God, To serve the King/Queen and my country, To help other people and To preserve the secrecy of the Brownie organisation. Cap Badge as attatachment below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Browniescapbadge.gif Description: david sensing potential misunderstanding said Roel, I think that this split needs to be put back into the members' lounge. Roel wrote david wrote: Roel, I think that this split needs to be put back into the members' lounge. Is this not a historic organization? The members lounge is mostly for informal chit-chat, polls, movies, events of today... Everything with more lasting or more ancient weight is usually put in Non-WW2 History. david wrote again Roel wrote: david wrote: Roel, I think that this split needs to be put back into the members' lounge. Is this not a historic organization? Well, not really. Roel wrote again david wrote: Roel wrote: david wrote: Roel, I think that this split needs to be put back into the members' lounge. Is this not a historic organization? Well, not really. Look, it was founded in 1914 and played a part in a bunch of wars. That's enough for it to be placed in this section. Why would it, on the other hand, be placed in the Lounge? dave wrote dont worry he is just trying to keep the organization a secret. & david wrote Yeah, that's right. And also to save a few blushes in the future. & so on. You can read the whole lot at...................http://www.fun-online.sk/forum/viewtopi ... 51&start=0 It's in non WWII History "Brownie Elite?" THE APRIL FOOL, ROEL IS THAT THIS IS THE REAL BROWNIE ORGANISATION THAT EVERYONE ELSE IN ON THE JOKE, KNEW FROM DAY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/members/brownies/ When the cute little girls perform a good deed, they get awarded a Brownie point. ROEL, HOPE YOU APPRECIATE THE JOKE & DON'T BAN ME FROM THIS FORUM FOREVER!
ROFL!! Oh my god, I should have at least TRIED to search something on this organization myself... I am so dumb, I'm gonna resign. Wonderful to see you can all cooperate so well in fooling a silly Hollander. You bastards!
Yeah, well, I could get all Dutch and come over there with a soccer shawl around my neck to knock you over the head with a bycicle... I don't like April Fool jokes. I really don't. Why not? Because you have to control your temper on April 1st because you fell for the joke yourself while you knew it was coming. You can't get decently mad at someone for pulling your leg like that. ARGL, you had me, you filthy bastards!
Semi-seriously though most of us Dutch people seem to have a weird sense of humor. We like to insult and a rarely feel truly offended when someone makes fun of us in any way.
How do you like my new rank? I assure you it's only temporary. Son-etc: you started this. I know you know I know where you live.
oh my you guys are the worst ever. now that is a sense of humor!! And you guys saying that the Dutch have humor? I think the british have too! Roel, you'd better keep this rank for a while.. say... a month?
    And I was wondering why you called yourself "April fool", Roel ! Amazing how you Brits "Gang'ed" up on him, good work !! Best reagrds, KBO.
Where do I live? Please don't say that you know. If so then I intend to spend the rest of my life as a goat, hiding in some field somewhere.# BTW Can my rank be 'April Fooler' Also, It was David that did alot of this too, he PM me alot around that time.
Actually, no. It was all spur of the moment stuff, inspired by Roel's question about what are Brownie points. The only part that was planned, was to reveal the prank on "April Fools Day", or "All Fools Day" as it is known in some countries. (Or "Roel'sa Fool Day" as it will no doubt be known from now on, at least around here! )
Thanks for that. All said and done, I must say this joke was truly brilliant. I didn't think people here would really work together to make a prank like this last four pages. This being april 2nd, the rank of April Fool is gone.
