I was mildly annoyed at the time that the news reports went something like this: Innocent man shot by Police. Family devestated & want to sue. Tony Blair says (inset quote here). Innocent man shot by Police, big investigation. Oh, by the way, he was running away from Police officers who told him to stop. Innocent man shot by Police. Isn't it shocking. My anti-media rant for the day.
Wow, 7 shots to the head? I would think after the first 4-5 there would be nothing left of the head to shoot at. Anyways, I must say that the police's action is quite disturbing, something I have not heard from a civilized country since the Rodney King beating. Paranoia is really the name of the game in today's world. This world is definently not going in the right direction, and neither good (britian, US, etc.) or evil (NK, Al qaeda, etc) is doing anything to change it. I must say that we humans are very ignorant creatures and its a goddamn miracle we haven't blown ourselves up by now.
This is true terrorism at it's best. Nobody can be complacent anymore. Paranoia eventually sets in, etc. That's real terrorism.
It is sad that that Brazilian guy was killed, but you can't blame the cops they were just doing their job - The guy was told to stop and he ran - if he had a weapon he could have used it at any time. Besides, a little Paranoia can be good for you as a country, take the 1950s communism paranoia in the States and elsewere for example - it prevented communists from carrying out any attack in the US, which would happen if they didn't have their guard up.
Yeah, I'm sure we can all agree that Senator Joe McCarthy's communist witch hunt was a real high time for the nation.
