His funny antics  , -He keeps damaging that blue car -He once got dressed in his car while driving it -he once pretended to be a barber , and gave people some bad haircuts -he once put a armchair on top of his Mini and drove the car by putting a brick on the gas and used some broomsticks put through the windows to steer                 oh and his teddy bear , and he also dosen't talk , he just says "Bean"
I can't imagine, the first couple were I think amusing for novelty value but after that it became dready, repetative and tedious. The cartoon doesn't even bear mentioning.
i am more for his role in blackadder where he is the rightfull owner of the trone but is only the servent of the prince regent
That's Rowan Atkinson (The actor) as Edmund Blackadder (the character in the imaginatively titled Blackadder series) rather than Mr Bean (the character he played in the imaginatively titled "Mr Bean" programs).
i know but it's funnier. bean doesn't say a thing but in blackadder you can have those nice word jokes witch makes it more funnier
IT'S NOT MR BEAN!!! Mr Bean is a different character in a different series, the actor is the same, the character is completely different! The character in Blackadder is Edmund Blackadder, the actor is Rowan Atkinson, this isn't about Rowan Atkinson (AFAIK) or Blackadder, but about Mr Bean a specific character that the actor Rowan Atkinson plays.
I love Mr Bean Rowan Atkinson is a fantastic actor and I think he plays the part of Mr Bean and Edmond Blackadder brilliantly. I bought Simon a keyring with Mr beans Teddy on it ages ago but its head snapped off
I've seen some sketches from Rowan Atkinson's stand up comedian shows, which made me realize that the man can really be funny. I would not have realized this if I had only seen him as Mr. Bean, Edmund Blackadder, or any other role he has ever played. Whichever way you look at it, Mr Bean just isn't funny. It's lame and pathetic from the very first second, and then it actually drags on for half an hour in which every single joke is predictable, repetative, stupid, and quite overwhelmingly not amusing. Oh look, it's a clumsy ugly retarded man who doesn't speak! Please face it people, the character is not funny. I don't particularly like Blackadder because it's so repetative and obvious, but at least that has some funny situations or jokes every now and then (if rarely). It's just something I don't praticularly enjoy, however Mr Bean I utterly loathe.
It would seem that you you either love, or loathe Mr Bean, with very little inbetween, he is that sort of character, and that sort of one dimensional humour either does it for you, or is a complete turn off. Personally I love it, and think some of it is very clever. Roel, have you seen the first series of Blackadder? It is not as predictable as the others, much cleverer, and in my opinion the best of the four.
mr bean is exactly that one dimensional and therefore can appeal to all age groups and all ppls because it is visual humour nothing more. kids particularly like it, for me it is slightly amusing and well done. on the theme of blackadder, this is a more adult oreintated humour which does incorporate the one dimensional and visual humour that all ages can enjoy...but it also blends in those subtle life situations and sexual references that become more relevant as you get older and which often go over the head of teenagers and kids..becuase they have yet to experience many of the situations and plays developed in the shows. another example (for those in the uk) is morecambe and wise. when i was a kid my dad luved it... i hated it thinking it was unfunny and dull...if i watch it now as a grown man..it is one of the funniest things i have seen! btw..IMHO series one in blackadder is my least favourite by a mile!
I have seen parts of Blackadder's Medieval, Early Modern and World War I settings as well as parts of the Christmas Carol. I didn't find any of it more funny than the rest, and the majority of it wasn't funny at all.
Is there anything you do like Roel? So far it seems like pretty much everything has met with your disapproval whether it's Harry Potter, Star Wars, Mr Bean or Blackadder.
Mr Bean is popular because so many people look at what he does and get to say "what an idiot" and then most of them act equally stupidly in their daily lives, not realising it. I gave up watching Mr Bean, I worked with too many people who did the same sort of brain-dead antics... Black Adder, on the other hand, I found tremendously funny and have even used some of his lines in requisite situations - when people don't realise that you're quoting you get a reputation as a wit - never hurts. I particularly liked it when someone complained that wearing mirrored sunglasses in a night club was not "the done thing" and did I "think I was cool". The remark, "I try not to fly in the face of public opinion" left her speechless. And the "wild stab in the dark, which is what you'll get if you don't get on with it" was hilarious
I like to rant about things I dislike. It is much easier to do and gives much more satisfaction than praising something I do like. Which is why those things I do like don't get a lot of publicity from me. As far as British humour is concerned, I really really like Monty Python and I can't get enough of it and quote it as often as possible.
Have you heard him on chat shoes, he's not funny..... he has some very very good material to work with
Rowan Atkinson Atkinson may or may not be funny ( I, personally, think he is a real scream ! ), but he has bloody good taste in cars, since he owns more Aston Martins than you can shake a chamois leather at ! Incidentally, the Japanese are the greatest fans of Mr. Bean, so I guess that tells you all you need to know ! Marlin.
The japanese are amongst the most sadistic to grace the planet when it comes to sense of humor, is that what your refering at? Because frankly all the mr bean I can remember was only mildly emberassing, but definitly not painful.
Japanese humour Having lived in Japan, I can tell you that most Japanese humour tends to revolve around a bunch of blokes stripped bollock naked, having their wrists and ankles tied together, whilst their wedding tackle is smeared with strawberry jam, and then being expected to outrun a hornets nest when it is kicked over. Therefore, if they find Mr. Bean funny, then there is hope for Nippon yet, but don't hold your breath, me old matey ! After all, they are still re-writing things like the Rape of Nanking out of their history books, whilst making the USA's embargo on oil and scrap metals to Japan as being a perfectly sound and valid reason for a sneak attack on Pearl ! Marlin.
