Not offhand but if you can get the book Utmost Savagery there are some good maps in there that take the battle day by day if I remember correctly. Greg

I have a few maps of Tarawa, Carl. I can photocopy them and I would gladly sent them to you. I just need a 'green light' from you.
I have never read about it but wasn't the fighting around Tarawa Atoll done not only on Betio Island but others in the surrounding atoll as well? "Tarawa on the Web" doesn't mention any of this. Can anyone elaborate?
I'm sure you have probably seen these but here are a couple of sites. Photos Taken on 21 Nov 1943 | World War II Database WW2Gyrene Tarawa Overview
thumbnail pic from this site lonesentry carl, and can be enlarge too, ray.. http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/jp-betio-island/tarawa-betio-island.jpg http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USMC/III/index.html
fim star louis hayward carl.... Don't forget Louis Hayward who lead the camera team for the Marines Landing at Tarawa. Hayward is second from left back row, this is picture of team after capture of Betio. After the film was made public, Hayward once asked Howlin Mad Smith how he liked it. He said,"Fine, but enlistments are down 5%!"
7 years and a few answer later ... you have some detail work on that website : Across the Reef: The Marine Assault of Tarawa
And three weeks later I return. Shoot, I was using that search button and saw the request for the map. Never dawned on me to look at when it was posted. Oh well OR , read all the posts !
