what do you think is the best ww2 movie?

i liked talvisota, (winter war in finnish) about the russo-finnish conflict of world war 2

 

My top ten:

1. Band of Brothers - true story, great music, TEN hour movie!
2. The Great Escape - exquisite acting, true story
3. Saving Private Ryan
4. Das Boot - got to watch it 'auf Deutche' with subtitles
5. Tora, Tora, Tora
6. A Bridge Too Far - Real Shermans and fine acting
7. Patton
8. The Longest Day
9. Kelly's Heroes - Shermans and the first decent Tiger mockups!
10. Battle of the Bulge

You (and everyone else who hasn't yet) should see When Trumpets Fade. It's a 'first-class ticket through hell' as it says on the box.

 

When Trumpetts Fade is a story that actually tells it like it is. Simple, but how many other war movies can sya the same ?

Pretty much all of them try to have the americans(usually) look heroic, or to have a movie with some unrealistic plot(such as saving private ryan).

 

I've got to admit I haven't seen When Trumpets Fade yet. I've got it on my "must see" list now that I've seen the comments on this Forum.

Bulge as #10 is a stretch, but I always liked the way it successfully portrayed the U.S. tankers frustrations in trying to destroy King Tigers. The Sheridan with its' turret blown off was not very realistic, but had the right "feel".
