So? It is a completely subjective matter, "music quality" can not be objectively evaluated. In the 60's the same things were said about the Beatles, for example. Personally I don't like rap or most pop either, but that does not mean it is bad, because music cannot objectively be defined as "bad".

Well, in my opinion , quality isnt punching a few buttons on a synthesiser machine, and having a technicians at the studio making someone with no singing talent sound like a siren.

That's fine, but that is not what quality electronic music is about. :D

I find it funny how people often object to modern popular music and instead choose to listen to the exact same genre but to songs that are twenty or thirty years older. Why don't you go look for a little more obscure artists out there - like Panzerman said, there's something for everyone to like.

While I agree with CSP and others that modern music you hear on the radio isn't going anywhere (more and more of it is mindless hiphop and Eurovision music), a lot of very good stuff is being made off the mainstream, particularly in the field of electronics but even in the pop/rock genre. All of this is a lot better than the utterly poor music of the sixties, seventies and eighties people still idolize for no good reason I can discern.

You are confusing mainstream pop with Electronica. Electronica stands by the fact that the music is in fact made om computers, while mainstream pop tries to hide that fact as much as possible.
Saying that Electronica is responsible for mainstream pop being a showcase of deceit would be the same as saying that locksmiths are responsible for burglaries - they use the same tools, but for completely different purposes.

I've had a change of heart. I realize thats it science and technology i should be mad at (lol, who ever thought I'd say that?) They make more efficient and easier to use for the general public(which makes it easier to make music that would in the past take talent to make, blah blah blah.), as with much other technology.

Personally, I like stuff from the late 70's-early 80's. I like Jean Michelle jarre(oxygene is awesome) and gary Numan.

    Has anyone mentioned Tangerine Dream?

I liked J.M.J's early work too.

My father has a lot of Tangerine Dream CDs as well - also excellent stuff. Royksopp and Aphex Twin are good as well, the latter being more obscure.

As some of you know, parts of "Oxgene" were in the movie "Gallipoli'. Surprisngly, I thought that music fit the move pretty good. How did you feel about the music in the movie ?
