I don't know what to think of the parents. Who sends his kid to such a camp.

More than 40% of the Americans can, already, be called fundamentalists as these believe that the Bible is an exact depiction of real events...

I can't see the trailer, and I think that might be a good thing...

    However, things like:

"Do you want do sacrifice your life for Jesus?"

might be taken out of context. Sacrifice in this context usually means giving over your life to God, following his path not simply what you would prefer (simplistic example, not having sex before marriage). It does not (or at least should not) mean "go out there and kill yourself for God"
They do use rather... dramatic language.

Anybody saw the rest of the movies. There's no mistake about it, these things are not taken out of there context. This bible camp is created as reaction to, and i qoute, "The Palistine organistion takes 12 year old shildren, gives them handgranades, learns them how to fire machine guns.........."

Conclusion, the fat women of 50 years old (i like to call her Fatso) is doing the smae thing, brainwashing the little kids and when the time comes, let them fight them the "Arabian Hords".
I think Fatso is no smarter then all those islam extremist. If she read the Bible in stead of twsting it, then she would realize that Jezus was for peace, not for war and killing. So, Fatso says that Harry Potter is of the Devil and all children that don't blow them up in the name of jezus will burn in hell. Sorry Fatso, everybody who lives correctly will go to heaven if they have remorse over some actions. But when you preach heat in the name of Jezus, i doubt you'll escape hell, no mather how much remorse you show. I hope that her sun factor 50 is already pakked, she's going to need it.

Anyway, just look at the rest of the video's. I almost had to trew up (i didn't because my stomac was empty)

I wouldn't worry... even if these kids do go all radical-fundamentalist, most of them are too fat to pose a serious physical threat (unlike their arabian counterparts)

Two days before,i've seen in a BBC documentary that 45% of the Americans believe in that the Bible describes with 100% accuracy historical events. For example; Genesis describes exact events, Noah really filled a boat with pairs of all animals, Moeses separated the Red Sea in two,the Jews were fed by manna(that fell out of the sky of course) for 40 years etc...
When someone claims things as such is what?

Also, a preacher in Centaucky explained--during the documentary--how dinosaurs fitted in Noah's Arc!!

When i read a book,i make sure i understand and study the cultures and happenings that made a book. When i read a book,i study the phrases and language. When i read a poem,i study the true meaning rather than take the literary context.

Documentaries, much like michael moore's farenheit 911,are presented in such a way that sometimes,it's biased.

i am a practicing christian,i have earned a place in university studying literature and i believe the bible is 100% fact.Does that mean i am stupid?I think instead of condemning something that is horrifying to you guys because perhaps,u do not understand christianity. How many of you really do understand Christianity in the first place as much as you understand Islam?
I doubt only a handful of you guys know though most of you live in Christian nations. So,as much as we condemn the actions of radicals that just can't open their minds to the beliefs of others, let us also examine our responses thus far and see if we had been the very people we have been condemning(eg: arab radicals, bigots).

Most of the time, the people on this forum has been rational and interesting, but seeing you guys talk of christianity as if it were a myth and fabricated nonsense makes me rather upset at the lack of understanding.

It's not a lack of understanding, I think, more than it is a lack of belief. There is a great deal about Christianity - and any other religion for that matter - that requires understanding, but even more of it requires sheer faith, and if you don't have this faith, it is hard to judge those who believe every word of any holy book as particularly reasonable people. This is simply because, if you don't believe what it says, it does not always sound too reasonable. And if you don't believe it, there is no reason to see it as anything more than fabricated myth - in other words, putting one religion on equal grounds with all other religions.

If you do consider all religions to be equal, then you too must be appaled by the documentary above; after all, the Jesus Camp movement proclaims one religion to be the only true one and it encourages children to fight to the best of their abilities to defend it against the (real or imaginary) attacks of others. It polarizes, it divides the world sharply into good and evil, us and them; in summary, it does not try to understand anyone else and instead chooses to lock itself away from everyone else. This is why I am very deeply shocked by it, and it is why my reaction to it is pretty strong.

Trying to understand this kind of phenomenon starts not with their ideas, because their ideas are already too radical to be changed. If we want to understand these people we must look at where this movement began and why, and what we can do to stop it because (and I hope you will agree with me here) teaching children to take a hostile stance towards the greater part of the world is wrong.

My dear friend, there's a thin line between unbelief and mockery. Most of the time,Grieg and you would just reason with me about your unbelief...(i hope you find me reasonable in my arguments). But what i have seen in many of the comments made against christianity in this topic serves nothing more than just sheer mockery.Would you criticise Islam in the forum by saying the Prophet really isn't sent by God and that the Koran isn't 100% true?I highly doubt any of our rational members will do that. But yet why is it that Christianity, through no fault of its own other than through a documentray that seems to be biased, draw so much flak like," i can't believe people actually believe it to be 100% true". Perhaps it was out of ignorance which i can forgive. But still, such comments implies that the bible then isn't true and mocks the people believing it.

And back to the video,i am shocked by the lack of wisdom in the teaching of those young impressionable minds.I do admit it may be wrong but i have yet to see the film.As a Chritian myself,my belief is that there is only one true God,but so does Islam and Judaism.I believe the correct way is to simple love the people and show them why our God is true rather than treating them as enemies of God...Afterall,Jesus could have killed the romans crucifying Him(but that's another debate for another time)

In essence Roel,i am not asking people to stop commenting. But what i simply ask for is more thinking before the words are typed. As much as we respect free thinking,i ask for the respect of beliefs of others.Which is something i do not think is hard to ask from ourselves isn't it?

All cultures do have a mythology. All this is based upon universal elements that later were presented as basic characteristics of the world's modern relegions (Christianity for example came from Judaism. However there are strong affections inhereted from the Ancient Greek rituals and other eastern religions such as Mithraism.) The Old Testament is nothing but a Jewish pile of mythology. Mythologies represent global memories of a common pool that are enriched with regional beliefs. For example, the global cataclysm rests in every people's memory upon the world. Greeks, Babylonians,Jews, Egyptians, Japanese, Indians, Chinese do have a clear reference to it in their mythology. Apart from that very distant past, many other events that refer to each civilization separately have been enriched with religious beliefs. Such stories are; The strory of Sampson,David, the exile of jews in Babylon(Jewish Mythology). Also;Trojan War,the stories of kings such as Theuseus and Minos, the deeds of Hercules(Greek Mythology). All these stories are memories of a civilization's past that were preserved orally--including supernatural powers, topical relious beliefs etc in order to be used for educating future generations. Some managed that better than others.
My point is that all these texts must be read carefully in order to reveal their allegoric meaning.

Oops... You posted while i was typing...

PS; Have you ever considered that all religions are different ways for the mortal to reach the Divine?--and this is an ancentral need of man

Mcris,i am sure if you study it abit further(no doubt they come from Dan Brown if i am not mitsaken) you would find some fallacies which i do not wish to argue about since authors upon authors have published books that tears down Dan brown's beliefs.

Back to the topic though,i am a Chinese Singaporean. My country is multi-racial and i have a certain degree amount of respect for other religions though i believe otherwise about their truth. So i do consider what you have asked me before and have found it to be meaningless unless one goes to the Father through Him :)

But that is my belief which i invite you to explore.

I can assure you Dan Brown's books have nothing to do with my opinion. I have read his books but never believed or accepted his opinions, as they are a full of inaccuracies. Certainly, you can rest assured about that.

    About my last statement;
I've been born as an Orthodox Christian and i've been in church many times. However, i am sceptical on how the "True God" is defined. When Apostle Paul came to Athens in order to spread Christianity he saw an altar that was dedicated to the "Unknown God". It was there for people of any religious belief that wanted to practice their religions and didn't have a temple for that purpose. Paul--from his part--decided that this wasn't true and that he knew who the "Unknown God" was. A bit arbitrary don't you think?
Also, Christians believe taht they are the only ones that worship the true God.But so do the Muslims and other religions. Now, you are a good Christian (so sign of irony).Consider that you were born in Egypt and grown up as a good Muslim. In both cases you try to reach the divine although practising different religions...

well said ,mcris...lol how can you be so lucid and thoughtfull in one post and completely off the chart in another...religion is mythology..the bible (n.t.) and koran were put to paper hundreds of years after the deaths of jc and mohamid.... all devout people feel that theres is the one true faith...all others are more or less damned...religion is just another reason to kill they neighbor, unfortunately....the devout will not be swayed..they are here to stay it would seem,,,

What do you think to be completely off chart?I don't understand...

I never said that... Religion itself does not mean to kill anybody--on the contrary,as far as i know, all of them try to save people. It's the lack of education and knowledge that leads to such acts when exploited properly.

Really what does it means? :)

Also, Kaiser,i didn't make it clear previously and i'm sorry, but personally i mock no religions and i respect all kinds of them.Had this been otherwise, i wouldn't be writting at all about that...
Also, mythology(and thus myth) is not the same thing with a fairy tale. While fairy tales are made completely by one's imagination, mythology always contain true events as a basis.
