    Thanks! :D
I already bookmarked the page.In my opinion, Pattle is the greatest allied pilot ever during ww2, imagine the odds against the RAF and EVA pilots...

The bible for aces after 1945 is Acig.org in www.acig.org.

Sinistra, cross refer the pilots in your lists with pilots and kills in these lists:

    http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_313.shtml
    http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_314.shtml

Pretty interesting. Altough, Tom Cooper tries to research the subjects as throughoutly as possible, even his lists are off because of squadron records being destroyed and in most cases, information is extremely hard to acces especially from the opposing side.

Well still 23 of those are confirmed. The last ones are not confirmed due to the fact the records were lost. Still, interesting to ponder, and somewhat sad that if those kills are true this man has not been honored for his tally. As stated above, given the odds its quite an incredible score. Even the Great russian aces were in a much more advantageous position in many respects to Pattle.

The most kills go to some German on the eastern front right?

Yeah, but the Germans operated completely differently. They were on a fly-till-you-die policy, which allowed for some real high scoring aces, but really was a terrible policy because most pilots just burned out quickly. Western allies had a rotation system, which gave yet a certain number of sorties at the front, then you were pulled back for a bit to train new pilots. This was the best system as new pilots were taught by veterans who had been in combat.

Eric Hartman for example flew something over 1000 sorties. The top allied western aces few around 100 I think, not exactly sure. Hence Eric Hartman had more chances to shoot things down.

Also, the germans always had a target rich enviroment, allies not so much.
