As you may have noticed, we have introduced a new ranking system, using the ranks of the WWII US Army. THis includes the Technical-ranks (later 'specialist'), which were often held by tankers.

The images have been made by Robert Oliver, webmaster of the Lt. Colonel Robert A. McDonald website, and a used with his permission. The website has a lot of interesting material, so I'd encourage you to check it out.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The ranking system is as follows:
    0 - 4 posts
    Recruit

    5 - 24 posts
    Private

    25 - 99 posts

Aside from the admins and moderators, David is the highest ranking member. You can check at any time by opening the memberlist, and changing the settings to 'Total posts' and 'Descending', and then cliking 'Sort'.

Seriously, does not affect me but I think they are unnecessary, too large, ostentacious and why mend anything if it's not broken.
Not one of the better ideas, but I am biased, I would not want to wear an American award, BUT, only my opinion.
    You did ask.

Well, the insignia were US insignia before, there were just certain ranks left, out, but if there's a general consensus that they are too large I can scale them down.

One look or another, it doesn't really affect me.
Though it must be said that the colors are quite bright and the images rather large.
At least a size reduction has my vote.
...hey now it's only 4 posts left to promotion :p :kill:

Please scall them down, they are too distracting as they are IMO - making it difficult to read the posts.

    ;)

I agree with panzerman, it keeps taking my eye off what I am reading and forcing me to read posts 2 times. Probablty partly my fault having a horrible attention span.

I'll wait until the other ones have been scaled down.

THat wasn't the official designation, though, which I'd like to keep (otherwise, we could also call Technician 5th Class 'Corporal without portfolio' ;))
