Carl Oak Leaves by themselves are demanding prices of $6,000-$8,000. KC with Oak Leaves and swords would be named thus demand a price of over $20,000. The ol'price on request would be noted on a couple of sites we love to visit. If it has POR then I can't afford it!
and a KC w/ OL,Swords and diamonds, wow......POR!!!!! Damn how do I post pictures so I can post my golden oakleaves! [ 29. October 2002, 10:11 PM: Message edited by: Greg ]
Incredible stuff. I found a website once that listed in detail facts about all levels of Ritterkreuz. I need to find it...
Hi Greg, just how old is your Formans guide? Tell you what--I aint paying $5 grand for a set of Oak Leaves. I kinda figured they were about half that price but--Formans didnt really relate. Oh well, maybe when I win the Texas Lotto--then I can get a KC with "the works" Das Reich--this stuff im listing isnt mine--its just to give people an example of the going prices of this stuff these days. Now I do have two EK1s, and about 10 or so EK2s. But I dont have a KC nor Grand Cross--tho I wish I did
Foremans is a good guide and list prices that the awards probably should be. I thinks its crazy to buy a set of Oak Leaves for $6,000. Unless its Rommel's forget it. The prices in the last year have begun to spin out of control. The cased EK's have gone up at least 25% in the last year alone! At least that is what they are listing at on some of the more popular sites. The demand is high as the collectors make the transition to the internet and learn how to spot fakes and find the reputable dealers. I got my cased EK1 L/12 from Detlev for just under $300. I have seen them now sell for $400. Amazing, what a return. Its only a return if I sell it, and I'll be living under a bridge before I let it go. Don't tell my wife!
I guess a cased EK1 is out of the question for me. You remember the nearmint 1939 EK1 I have--I picked it up for the pricey sum of $80.00 back in 1999. At least I got a great deal on the "Kriegsmarine" EK1 I now have. I saw Detlev sell some of those for around $300.00 to I think $350.00--and this was several months ago--and a bit before the "Feeding Franzy" started on his updates. I think ill keep buying EK1s, but im not going to spend a ton of money for a cased one. EK2s i'll keep buying--just for the heck of it. Same here--id rather live under a bridge than sell my stuff. Things arent so shiny now but, I AINT getting rid of my militaria.
Hello!! Any Iron Cross from the 2nd class to the Grand cross is a GREAT investiment as long as original. The price of the Knight's cross has sky-rocketed in just a very short period. Fred Konig
I agree. I also remember back in 1999, that Detlev was selling RKs for about $350.00 to $400.00. Now at what? $5,000.00?
I'll try my best. WW1 Iron Cross 1st class appx $150-200. Depending on maker and whether it is a Screwback or whatever. WW1 Iron Cross 2nd Class up to $55.00. Tho I've seen this Imperial award before--I'm not sure what it is but looks liek it could be something worth about $350.???? Ditto on not knowing exactly what this one is but looks like somekind of House Order because of the sach type ribbon--if is a House Order--possibly about $2,000 $5,000. This one is also somekind of Knights Cross or House Order of somekind and I think I have seen one like this for sale at about $700, on Baldes site or maybe on Weitzes site. Enlisted mans PLM, w/ damaged enameling--I would guestimate from $400-$700 in its value. Ive seen this very PLM on someones site recently--just cant place it. [ 10. The first one you didn't recognise is an Order of the Crown. Instituted in 1861, the Order of the Crown was Prussia's lowest ranking order of chivalry, although it still held considerable status. As with most European orders of the time, it could only be awarded to commissioned officers (or civilians of approximately equivalent status), but there was a medal associated with the order which could be earned by non- commissioned officers and enlisted men. This order was not frequently awarded for combat actions during the war, although awards "with swords" were made in great numbers to military personnel, for general merit. Shown above is the 4th class badge, with gilt cross arms. The higher grades had white enamel arms. The second is an award even more important than the Grosskreuz. Order of the Black Eagle was the highest chivalric order in Prussia. Founded in 1701 by Friedrich I, the Black Eagle Order was not awarded for merit in the same sense as the Pour le Mérite, but was a "Collar" order with very limited membership, granted by the King of Prussia. I think one of these would cost quite a lot! And the third one is a Knight's Cross of the Royal House of Hohenzollern. [ 10. Thanks for letting me know--I had figured the one with black and white ribbon was Prussian as that was the Prussian colors. I have seen and known the others but being im an infant in Imperial German--I still have to go back and look at names etc. Theres also another Order of the Crown--but this one isnt it.
Oh these arent the only ones I cant identify--but I can always cheat as I know where to look for most of them
