G'day Wondering if someone has any informaion about the Bevin Boy's. Have found some information on the Net but am looking for more. Thank's Popski
There's quite a bit about the Bevin Boys on the UK 'net : - http://www.ap.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/bevin.htm and even a Bevin Boy Association : - http://www.hants.gov.uk/istcclr/cch17282.html and a review of Warwick Taylor's book/memoir : - http://freespace.virgin.net/mark.smith30/MembersPublications.htm
Thanks Martin I'll have a good look and make a small report for our magazine with this. Cheers Popski
Saw an interview with one of the Bevin boys recently during a Britain at war series I think it was....He told how he was astounded at being called up for the Bevin Boys and no matter how much he explained that he had flying training no one wanted to know....Typical of us Brits...If it moves paint it...reminds me of a course I was on...Infantry guy bit peeved and not really interested in the course...Took to one side and asked what the problem was....had a City and Guilds qualification in catering or something similar in UK at time...and joined hoping to be a chef...Army recruitment guys had told him no problem to remuster once he was in.....and he believed them...Pity was taken and I think after that course and instructors involvement he got his wish...Daft...
