Hey, does anyone know any websites that illustrate the aircraft markings for bomber/fighter groups, bomber/fighter squadrons, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Nathan, there was a site covering 8th AF fighter markings out of the UK on the web. Punch in 8th Air Force fighters in your search engine and see what is up.

    www.fighteraces.org

    www.fightertown.org

these maybe no longer with us but.......

    www.b-24.net

    this maybe also defunct.

go back to www.armyairforces.com and then to each one of the seperate bomber groups of the Air forces for their individual web-pages for their are many including rare pics.

    Erich,
Thanks for those links. However, the first two did not work at all. The B-24 one is really cool though. And the last one I've been to already and is really informative on the backrounds of the different groups, but not quite what I was looking for. I'm looking more for what the unique markings on the aircraft were. Such as blue noses or all red tails for example. Thanks.

    Hi Nathan,

    Try www.littlefriends.co.uk

For bombers I think the armyairforces site that Erich posted is the way to go...

    Stevin,
Thanks, the "little friends" site is great. I also really like the armyairforces site that Erich gave me. It had some of the stuff I was looking for, like the tail marking of B-17's, B-24's, and B-29's. One of the pages is below.
    B-17 Tails

I was looking for more pages like that for fighters and even smaller bombers like B-25's and B-26's. I've done alot of searching, but I just can't seem to find any.

I am afraid you're stuck with going through any individual FG or BG website. I don't think I have ever come across a site which lists them all. Maybe some modellers sites do.

Besides that the light and medium bomber groups are still very much in the shadow of their big and little brothers (i.e. Heavy Bombers and Fighters).

Maybe these are of help to start the search: http://www.9thaf.com/

Thanks alot, those sites did help alot. I guess I am gonna have to go to each BG/FG site and check things out myself. I agree that the smaller bombers are definately outshadowed by all the heavy bombers, and that is probably what makes finding info on them so hard.
