Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a good weekend. Today I opened my mission call........I decided a few moths ago that I wanted to serve a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on a 2 year mission. Today, that call came in. I will be serving in the Charleston, West Virginia mission, and will report to the Provo Utah MTC (Missionary Training Center) on February 13th 2019. I know that only 2 or 3 of you knew that I was going on a mission, and unfortunately, starting Febraury 13th, I will be absent from the forums for 2 years. Thankfully I have a good 4 months to enjoy before I leave, till then, I'll still lurk around and join in on the conversations here. I'm really glad I did the WW2 effects for West Virginia, I already feel like I know a lot about the state, and I can't wait to go and serve the people there. The mission isn't just in Charleston, it covers all of West Virginia, parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky.
Thank you CAC, that's the Plan! There's a good friend of mine who's currently in Sydney, don't know why I'm just now telling you this......
If you get down to the South of the state look for Ward, which is a mining ghost town. Say hello for me to all my Pritt relatives, they're in the cemetery there...about half of it. Good luck and enjoy the hospitality of the folks there.
Best wishes for your mission work. I have no doubt you will succeed in an exemplary fashion. Character always shows as it has with your time here. Look forward to your return with us. Gaines
Good luck JJ. I echo Gaines...you character shines through. Enjoy and soak in the lessons of the experience..talk to you down the road.
Thank you Rich....If I'm down there, I'll make sure to pay my respects...... Thank you very much Gaines, you have also shown incredible character and have been a wonderful example to me, and many others..... Thank you kindly KJ, I will most definitely be back with stories to tell.......
Good luck with your mission. Not sure of the state of the Baptist church in the state. As you know they are referred to as "Hard shell Baptists".Baptists strongly believe that you must be a Baptist to reap the rewards of Heaven.Enjoy the state snack, pepperoni rolls and some Blue Grass music.
Well, over he last year you've certainly left your mark here, and we'll be waiting for you when you return. Godspeed on your mission!
I've been reading up on my mission, and it's suggested that I learn basic Spanish and German.......alright!! I didn't think there were German speaking populations in the parts of Pennsylvania I'm going to, but I won't complain!
Certainly makes sense........when I come back from my mission I'll have to demonstrate my crappy German for you all
Two years without internet service. Dang that's really roughing it. Those Weevee's have it hard! Man I knew that West Virginny was out in the sticks, but I figured they'd have internet coverage in the big towns at least. I guess that they only have basic cable TV too.
