Hello everyone. I'm pleased to have found this forum, as I'm hoping I can lend a hand as well as be helped as we dig deep into the worst conflict in human history. I am an Army infantry veteran, got out as a sergeant with one tour in Iraq. I've always been a military history buff, with particular interests in the American Revolution and the Second World War. I read many memoirs before enlisting, and decided to write my own story. It's the only way we can get a glimpse of "what it was like." In particular, the ETO has always piqued my interest, and I've got a family member who served in the 36th Div in Italy. I got into living history a few years ago with the Rev War, and have now added a WWII impression of a US infantryman. (I'd gone to a WWII event in 1940s civilian clothes and vowed to come back to it the next year with the CIB I earned, haha.) I'm a bit of a collector besides. Studying history is one thing, holding it is another. All-around history nerd and tireless researcher here that's pleased to make your all's acquaintances.
Thanks. The search feature on this forum is outstanding, and you all seem to be an active bunch. Good to be here
