new here. thought I would post basics of my parents and uncles service.
my dad enlisted in the navy in 1942, went to what is now hospital corpsman school, then assigned to what is now Little Creek amphib base. he was sent to Rosneath Scotland then was assigned to DREW ONE. He landed at Utah beach on D+1, then moved to Cherbourgh later in June. He remained there till Jan 45 when was sent back to US for new construction.
my mom enlisted in 1944 and was a postal clerk at fleet post office in Brooklyn till 9/45.
my uncle Roger was in 82nd airborne and was killed in Holland during market/garden.
my uncle Roy was a navy radio man on a attack transport in Pacific in 1944-45.
