Per BBC News - In 2004 "Baghdadi reportedly led prayers, delivered sermons and taught religious classes while in detention. He was considered a low-level threat by the US and was released after 10 months."

"He was a street thug when we picked him up in 2004," a Pentagon official told the New York Times in 2014. "It's hard to imagine we could have had a crystal ball then that would tell us he'd become head of [IS]."

Google not finding any mention that he was in any prison after that. Dark Web Search maybe? Enemy propaganda?

Probably some Capt. signed a form BER/45/3 to get him out of the chow line. That's often how it works in real life.

Wonder who gets the $25 million reward the State Department offered? The guy with the underwear? Does State pay with a check or in cash. Where does on cash a chek that large?

Sometimes it's better to not know how intelligence is gathered.

"A Kurdish official on Monday said the SDF provided crucial intelligence from a source who infiltrated Baghdadi's house, bringing out underwear that provided positive DNA identification."

Trump says Baghdadi's top replacement also killed
