Recently watched an old newsreel about the hit on Yamamoto. In that 1943 newsreel they clearly state the communication was intercepted and cracked. I'm rather confused here... I thought the US didn't de-classify our breaking of Japanese codes until 1971? Can someone clear up my confusion here? No confusion here. It is NOT, say again, NOT a newsreel from 1943. Somebody used old newsreel footage & still photos of Yamamoto, spliced/edited it together, and did their own voiceover. Did that kind of stuff with VCR tapes and a microphone for History class back in the early 80s.
