That's a great weapon feature, we must have given them quite a few but I'm sure their already getting in short supply as they have wiped out a number of convoys already and in any war munitions are quickly expended. At roukes rift in the Zulu wars the garrison had 40,000 reds of ammunition when the returning colume relieved them they had less than a thousand in two days of fighting. They found three hundred dead Zulu at the rift and after tracking the war party they found another three to four hundred dead buried along the way. I mean they British back then and before always boasted about how deciplined and well trained marksmen British troops were yet for all those thousands of reds they didn't even get ten percent in kills. If the battle had lasted a half day longer they would have run out of ammo and close in fighting was more of a Zulu expertise. The stranges thing about the battle is the British set up a wall made of meal sacks the Zulu stopped at the wall or slowed the soldiers cloud understand why didn't the Zulus just slash the bags and spill out the contents to make their attacks easier, as when they would retreat to reform the British would try to rebuild as much of their defenses as possible. It was a rather odd battle and the war was not sanctioned by England in fact they had sent orders to avoid war but I don't know if it was greed or a fantasy of grander that lord clemsford wanted to creat a historical immortality for himself. In any case he was removed and sent somewhere that he would not be an embrassment to the royal family. Some felt he was bribed and made promises to be made wealthy if he was able to subdue the Zulus and make there lands open to British investors who wanted to expand there cattle and other businesses into Zulu land. The Zulu were not only large in number but held the largest fertile lands and were well off raising cattle and farming. Farming helped unit the tribes as Zulus fought each other for hunting and gathering rights. It's a bit sad that the whites back then felt they could oppress those they felt were insignificant and weaker. The British paid dearly for their arrogance though those really responsible mostly got off free. The one victory was all the Zulus would get after they lost pretty much every battle with huge losses even with the hundreds of rifles they captured and huge stock pile of ammo and three artillery pieces they one had no knowledge of artillery and they were poorly trained in rifle fire. They would have heavy casualties and inflict rather light casualties to the British. They fought to protect their land and way of life that the British were trying to take from them. Lord Clemsfords declaration to them was basically a declaration of war with his illegal demands he pushed the Zulus to war thinking they were just a bunch of savages with sticks. Well he got his war and is immortalized in history as one of the most fouled up commanders and provincial governors in British history. One of the reasons the British got kicked out of most of the countries they colonized the British colonists treated the locals as inferior like India wanted the British out as they would take many Indians to England pretty much like slaves even if they did give them a salary and what far below was a British citizen would normally get. England at that time had the second highest population of Indians.

On or before the US Civil War (1861-date) the phrase "seen the elephant" came to mean the person had seen something that could have kicked their ass with little effort. Gettysburg, Shiloh, etc., qualified for that. In a letter it meant that the writer had fought his first battle.

Something to add to the file…thanks, a bit of cultural insight is always interesting. If you’ve seen a Māori, you’ve seen the elephant…

No, it's incredibly greedy and plain arrogant. EVERYTHING developed in Edison Labs was patented in Thomas Alva Edison's name.

Idk from everything their reporting it seems like lots of countries are mobilizing along the Russian and Ukraine border but have no intentions of going in. If the UN or EU decides to just hold I think the Ukraine will probably fall. They don't have the manpower or equiptment that the Russians have and Putin has put too much into this to walk away. In order to try to justify his actions he has to either win or get pushed out. The Ukrainians have inflicted too many casualties for him to just walk away if they win and take the country he can spin up some story to try and appease the people but if he loses he's going to have a hell of a time trying to get the families of those soldiers killed to accept the loss of their loved ones. I'm sure our friends who have sons that were deployed are happy hearing that we are not planning on entering the fighting zone. If the UN and the EU make it clear they will not commit I wonder if the Ukraine will fight on or surrender even if we keep sending in more weapons they just can't muster the kind of manpower the Russians have plus the amount of equiptment ground air and sea is far more than the Ukraine can muster. I feel bad for the guys I'm sure we purposely stalled any chance of them joining NATO we should have pushed or helped them join the EU. I hope most of those that are trying to get out make it ok but it will be hard for those people to resettle and then what will happen in the Ukraine. Most of the men will, probably end up,in work gangs to clear up and repair the destruction. They'll probably steal every resource they can calling it war restitution. Like the economic sanctions haven't seemed to done much so far so what is the western world going to do. And what will be the next annex Putin will try to empower. I think some are right and Putin wants to take back all the former Soviet states. I still hoping one of the Eastern European nations or western crosses in and makes Putin feel he's bitten more than he can chew. They say some Russian troops have lost their aggressiveness and some have been even surrendering with ess of a fight I'm sure a lot of the soldiers are not liking this war. At Chechnya a lot of Russian troops were not enthused about the war and many would not fight aggressively and even refuse to leave their APCs. Which they say accounted for the high losses as troops were congregated in large numbers in vehicles and refused to deploy. Idk if their having some of the same problems but they are losing heavily again but seems they are losing whole convoys. Now in past encounters the soviets had in modern war urban combat has cost them heavily before and past Russian generals were saying they had to develope better urban tactics I don't know if they have but they have developed what they think are better protection for their vehicles but maybe they are not as effective as they thought as it seems the Ukraine forces have been knocking out tanks and other vehicles with no problems so far.

Well Ukraine is still holding on but for how much longer more arms and humanitarian aid is being moved toward Ukraine but will it be able to get in as the Russians are trying to cut off Ukraine from any resupply taking most of the port cities or blocking then off and increasing aircraft activity. I'm sure the cargo planes that got in there early in the war was a throne in their side as the US said the plane they sent had more javelins for the Ukraine army. From pictures released the Ukrainian army is making good use of the javelins we supplied them. It's hard to say what's going on I'm sure many countries probably have satellites watching and know if the Ukrainians are right or if the Russians are. I bet the Russians are lying the more disinformation Putin can generate to confuse what's going on the more he can lie about what his true casualties are. Hide it from the world and his own people. If the Ukraine forces are really giving him a beating it would look really bad for him. Hell the soviets were the same they would never confirm anything we would claim during Korea or any other incidents

I'm really wishing a lot of horrible things on Putin. Made me choke up a bit about all the kids that are suffering from the war and he's a baby killer that poor toddler 18 months old killed from the shelling. That video on that hind shot down was crazy not sure if by news crew or drone. That vid of Ukrainian soldiers taking out a couple of bmps you can hear a child saying papa, all I kept thinking was dude get your kid outta there. Hope the guy who shot that vid was able to get themselves and their family to safety. I know war is a dirty business but it's still terrible to see little kids suffering from this war. I hope the Ukrainians are able to hold out longer. They have done a great job so far lots have said how they are amazed and admire that the Ukraine has held out as long as they have and still doing so. Wtf is with the Russians firing on a nuclear power plant are they trying to cause another Chernobyl? If the stupid asses do I hope the wind carries it into Russia.

The Russians must have really thought they would over run the Ukraine in just a few days. Russia has suffered from logistical supply since the winter war pre wwii and still do US military experts have said the Russian army only has one supply Bridgade and as such can only supply about a fifth of their forces at a time. Many Russian mobile units have run out of fuel and abandoned their vehicles including tanks. Many rusdian soldiers have been reported as stealing food from markets many feel that is an indication that they are short of rations or that food supplies are not reaching the troops. The lack of sufficient supply trucks and the hitting of supply convoys are effecting the rusdian advance the Ukrainians have been targeting fuel trucks making the Russians trying to disguise their fuel trucks but they say the Ukrainians have been taking a high toll on them still.

I hope the Ukraine can hold on but it's looking dire. The liar Putin promised a cease fire to allow civilians to evacuate are the rusdian army starts shelling the next morning and the last two days all day and night trapping hundreds of thousands and hundreds to thousands of men joining the Ukraine army but like how many of them have any type of military training. Like when is the UN or the EU going to really do something and end this war.

They claim another ceasefire today to allow for evacuation but you can’t trust them.
