Just thought I would pass this on to you if you plan on ordering any of these two movies on DVD.

    Cross of Iron.

    The Enemy Below.

I had been talking to quite a few individuals who sell DVDs at market prices and at very discounted prices.

The Enemy Below for some strange reason is no longer available from whomever is the or one of the main distributors for (and in my area at least)

Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Blockbuster Video and Hollywood Video.

I was also told that many do not carry Cross of Iron but, at least one still does. I ordered my Cross of Iron copy today. The lowest price I know of is $17.98 ranging to $49.00--on the available market.

Hi Hatch, welcome to the forums and glad your with us.

I agree with you as Cross Of Iron is one of my favorite films. One that I have seen only a few times but that is rapidly becoming my all time favorite is Decision Before Dawn with Richard Basehart, Oskar Werner and Hans-Christian Bleth.

Hi Hatch, Decision Before Dawn aint out on DVD or even VHS yet.

This movie was filem shortly after the end of ww2 and was filmed on location in cities that still had most of their buildings as heaping piles of rubbish.

All the American and German items used--uniforms, medals, guns, vehicles etc, were all the real thing.

The movie is based on a book that was written about the Allies usage of some German POWs who were trained to become allied agents. These former German soldiers were then "tested" for their loyalty to the allies, by being sent on a very easy mission. Once they were trusted, they were then turned loose on something more important like, finding out what unit was where, who the commanding officer is etc.

After doing that, they were then to return to thew allies with all of their gathered intelligence.

Well, this is basically how the movie goes. Richard Basehart(Lt. Rennik) was in charge of two German agents Oskar Werner (Happy) and Hans-Christian Bleth (Tiger) and they were dropped in seperate areas to get their info.

Happy was dropped off by himself possibly a few hundred miles from where Rennik and Tiger were to be--which was in a bombed out apartment building in Mannheim. The address was: Nekkerstrasse 18. Happy had to remember that address so when he had his gathered intel, he was to report to Rennik there.

Well, Happy was doing his job and somehow, the Gestapo became suspecious of him and an SS man who was posing as an SS Motorcycle Dispatch Rider, met and tried to befriend Happy. This was the SS mans way of keeping eye on him.

Well, Happy tries to keep up with his "other duties" of spying, when he is caught up in chaos, and being he was posing as a Luftwaffe Medic (perfect cover as he had actually been a Luftwaffe Medic) he was temporarily assigned to a Panzer Oberst as his personal medic.

Anyway, the story starts out very interesting, and as the movie goes on, it only gets better.
