thats a nice looking collection of films there ghost there is a powerful lot of films out there to find
Well, another topic was speaking of a great movie by the all-time best and most favorite movie stars of all-time was on AMC this morning: Rio Bravo w/ Duke, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson, Walter Brennan, Claude Akins, Angie Dickenson, Ward Bond and Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez. Sadly, all but one of these movie greats are deceased. Dean Martin sure sounded great singing: "My Rifle, My Pony, and Me."
my old dad watched this film just last night he is a big wayne fan he must have every wayne movie ever made i must say i sat and watched the movie my self and the song mr evans spoke of is reaily great .cheers mark
Hi Mark, glad to know another Duke fan ;-)) If you and or your Father are interested, there are two great sites about Duke and his movies as well as Co-Stars etc. They are: JWMB - The Original John Wayne Message Board! and John Wayne Both sites are heavily moderated and the John Wasyne.com site is up and running thanks to Ethan Wayne-one of John Wayne's Sons. Both sites are full of some great folks to know. All are down to Earth and on the level. Take care and best regards--Carl. PS, almost anything and everything Duke related, will be found on these two excellent sites.
Rio Bravo, a great movie for many many reasons, but pretty high on my list......(the one on the left!)
Carl, Rio Bravo is definitely coming up a lot!! I was on the road to my mother-in-law's so missed it on AMC this morning. Even if I'd been home, I might have got vetoed on it though since I only saw it again about a month or so ago. Funny how I can now hear Dean Martin singing ....
Hi Michelle, Scott, Michelle, you better believe it ;-)) Rio Bravo is one of Duks top most liked movies. Dean Martin was very good and has an excellent singing voice. I can still (in my mind) hear him and Ricky Nelson singing: "My, Rifle, My Pony, and Me, as well as Cindy, Cindy. "Ths sun is hanging in the wesssst......" Martin sure could sing ;-)) Did you know that Walter Brennan (Stumpy) actually did play the Harmonica-as well as Gary Cooper. Both of them were excellent players. Oh and Michelle, if you ever find time to go look and possibly join the two best sites on the net about Duke, there are plenty of Ladies on there who participate. A few come to minds-usernames are: Chester & the Mrs-the Mrs's name is Sue, Senta-who really is Very Stepanskaya from St. Petersburg, Russia, Smokey from Australia, Cindyrella (Cindy) and several ladies from Europe and several others. Also, it's on rocord that both Aiessa Wayne (one of Dukes Daughters) and Jenniffer Wayne (one of Dukes Granddaughters) both are registered members of JWMB - The Original John Wayne Message Board! and both have posted there. Aissa Wayne has chosen the Legal field (she's an Attorney) and her daughter Jenniffer, is trying to make it as a Singer. I heard her sing a song when she was at her grandfathers 100th birthday celebrations in Winterset, Iowa-where Duke was born. Jenniffer Wayne has a very pretty singing voice and, I would not be surprised at all, if she soon becomes very famous. Scott, oh, I was wondering what you had wanted to show ;-)) Take care and best regards--Carl.
ha ha stumpy and his sawed off shot gun never does what he is told and the other young fellow with his very short shot goy shoots wayne in the rear OUCH watched the start of one of his best lastnight the flying leathernecks well i reckon it is one of his best
how menny films of john wayne does he get shot or killed in iwo jima the cowboys there is another just cannot think of it now...:autopistol:
Hi Krieg.F, he gets killed in a total of eight of his films. The two you listed are ones I can always list. I can't think of the other titles but, one of the movies he did in the late 1920's also has him playing a bit part as a Corpse lying in state in a Coffin. Another that comes to mind that he dies in is: The Fighting Seabees. His character is Wedge Donovan who is the owner of a construction company doing contract work for the Fed Govt. Also, Susan Hayward; is the love interest. Duke does not get killed until the very end when he takes a bulldozer and uses it to knock out some Japanese positions and he gets shot as he rides the 'dozer and it veers into a holding tank that containes hundreds or thousands of gallone of fuel. In ture, this fuel runs down the hillside and right into where the Japanese are attacking through and many of them get BBQed in the process. William Frawley and Paul Fix both are in this movie. If im not mistaken, I think Duke dies in the movie Pittsburg-which is about a steel tycoon. I think near the end he gets trapped in a mine and it collapses on him. I've never seen this one all the way through and the last time I saw this was on a Saturday evening on a PBS station some 30 years ago.
might haft to start watching some of his early stuff of the duke to see what it is like my dad says there some what diffren't the horse runs very fast and a fue other things ..
The past few days I've watched "Mr Myjistic" and "The Mechanic". Both Charles Bronson flicks. "The 300". "Battle 360. The sea battle for Santa Cruz."
Here in the States, it's on The History Channel. It's a weekly series although this one was the first I have seen.
Battle 360 is Great, (as are both Bronson flicks) I've seen them both so far, next Friday will be even better. I can't wait until it's available on DVD.
Document on Red Army Admiral Aksel Berg Document Pt I on Göring " The rise and fall " by Jörg Müllner Includes lots of footage of and by Göring, seems like he wanted to make a movie of himself in the future.
Rene and I (2004) This is the gripping true story of Irene Hizme and her twin brother, Rene Slotkin. Sent to Auschwitz when they were barely six years old, they were among the 3,000 twins subjected to Josef Mengele's experiments in his quest to create a Master Aryan race. Rene and I (2004) - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies A great document of the perhaps most famous club in the world: " The Mengele twins"
