What battles do you think need to have a movie(that doesnt completly f*** the battle up, ex. Enemy at The Gates)? Personally, i'd like to see movie on The Battle Of Berlin(ive heard that one is being made in europe, or has already been made) and also A movie on the invasion of Crete What about you guys?
Not quite a battle, but the Amiens Prison Raid would make a brilliant film ! But there are no Mosquitoes left to fly in it....
I thought Enemy at the Gates was pretty good ! Anouther war movie on par with Das Boot would be nice. I guess young people would like an Animee movie on the adventures of Adolf in WWII.
How about "Kursk"... I think with modern technology you would not need loadsa tanks but copy them on the screen. So it would not necessarily cost a million to create the battle scenes.
Great idea! i totally forgot about the eastern front . Kursk would be great. And maybe one about Barbarossa, the early gains, to the soviet counterattack, id love to see that!
I think, with a great director, a movie could be made about Wake Island. I don't know but I love that battle and it's just amazing how those boys held out on that island!!! Another could also be Iwo Jima which would have been very interesting having the Japanese under the mountains.
Yes, Wake Island would be good and even better if they did it from the Japanese point of view. I have seen WWII films with the Russian, German, American, British point of view but nothing that I can think of with a Japanese point of view except for some of the segments of Tora,Tora,Tora. If they did one on Wake Island they should include the story of all the construction workers the Japanese executed toward the end of the war.
First, I'd love to see a master and very expensive production Band of Brothers-like about the life of Adolf Hitler. And I agree with Kai, we need a gigantic production Pearl Harbour-like (and I'm talking only about the $160.000.000) about the eastern front; Leningrad, Stalingrad, Kursk, Berlin, 'Barbarossa', etc. Not to mention I'd like my novel to be made a film!
Definately I would like to see another movie about Stalingrad, STALINGRAD, STALINGRAD! Kursk and Kharkov would be two more as well as a mini-series done about the battles of the Seelowe Heights/Battle for Berlin/Beginnings of the Cold War. Also, a movie done about Siegfried Knappe! Hans von Luck! Gotthard Heinrici, Wolfgang Luth and Erich Alfred Hartmann. [ 29. December 2003, 02:13 PM: Message edited by: C.Evans ]
So,I vote for films about Stalingrad and Kursk battle, the capture of Berlin and some films about our Slovak National Uprising
I agree, Onthefield and TA152, I too would like to see a remake of Wake Island. I would also like see a remake of Humphrey Bogart's Sahara. And while Operation Daybreak was a good try, the definitive film of Operation Anthropoid has yet to be made. [ 02. January 2004, 11:47 PM: Message edited by: Crapgame ]
And i just thought of one, A movie on the life of Reinhard Heydrich!Starting with him joining the Nazi Party, interview with Himmler,Rising through the Ranks, Wannsee Conference, The assasanation, and finally, the huge Funeral! I think it would be better to make it into a Band of Brothers-like Series instead
I don't think a movie about Kursk would go over real good here in the states.Too many don't even know what Kursk was. There's no hero like PVT. Ryan or John Wayne/Clint Eastwood to draw people to watch.I don't think it'll make money here although I'd love to see it.Enemy/Gate did'nt stay long, personally I thought it stunk! FramerT.
This would be one for the art-house set - definitely wouldn't 'sell' in the USA! But a biopic of Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein would be good : handsome, brilliant, arrogant, hero-worshipped and dies young. Would have to be a German production with 'Das Boot'-type production values.
