In between classes today I went to the students building and a guy was selling previously viewed DVD's for cheap... I bought.. DAS BOOT Monty Python and the quest for the Holy Grail Life of Brian Behind Enemy Lines Thin Red Line and Enemy at the gates 6 dvds and I only paid 40 bucks...SWEEEEEET! DUCE
Congrats, all good choices cept for TRL. I recently bought two never-viewed DVDs "The Train" and "The Sea Wolves" for the pricely sum of $10.00, because the place of business was goping out of business. Had I had more cash with me, I probably would have bought several more.
I bought Thin Red Line mainly because I hadn't seen it before and it was cheap enough...if I don't like it I can probably re-sell it or pawn it off somewhere DUCE
Congratulations, Ducetta! Good prices and good choices. There's nothing more we can say about "Das Boot", it is simply sublime. "Enemy at the gates" is very Hollywood but nice. And "The Thin Red Line" is also excellent. Though I warn you, it is not a war film. And it is completely different from anything you've seen. The film is about the philosophy of life during war time. The essential of this film is to carefully see the personnal reflexions of men and how their tormented soulds are being destroyed by war. The photography is a piece of art and so is the music. The mult-star cast, battle scenes, script and direction are supperb too. I highly recommend it. I just advice you to watch it with clear mind and an inspiration mood.
Keep us posted, i'd like to hear your opinion of TRL. If you don't like it, you can always hang it from your cars mirror as a decoration ~ OR ~ take it out and toss it in the air and let someone with a shotgun fire at it like it was Geese or Clay Pidgeons.
Watched "The Thin Red Line" last night and I'm still shocked by the ammount of beauty and tragedy of the film. It is definately one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. The shots Spielberg got in "SPR" may be amazing and real, but they're not even slightly as beautiful as what Terrence Mallick achieved in "The Thin Red Line". Have you watched it already, Ducetta? I'll promise you'll cry because of the film's philosophical drama but will also be delighted and will have an ecstasy by the film's beauty.
To tell the truth, I wasn't sure what to make of 'Thin Red Line'. Some of it, especially the guy wandering off and messing around in a lagoon ( if I remember correctly ) I found plain irritating. But the attack on the hillfort through the grass was indeed brilliantly filmed with an almost surreal feel. A strange film then - good in parts, more akin to 'Apocalypse Now' than 'SPR'.
Das Boot is a very intence movie ive seen I thought it was a geat movie I like :uboot: but dont hit a mine in a u boat :uboot::mines:
