I just thought I'd let it be known that certian members of my german reenacting unit (including myself) and other people are restoring a american Sexton and when it is finished we will be crewing it as a canadian vehicle. More info and hopefully pictures to follow.

To follow up on what Panzergrenadiere wrote, the Sexton's radial engine currently runs and the transmission is in good shape. The majority of work on this machine is superficial, as there is lots of surface rust on her. To meet BATF standards, the barrel was chopped off in front and the chamber was removed in the back. Work is currently underway to create a "dummy" barrel to go on the original muzzle brake found for the vehicle.

The next time I get a chance to see this machine (most likely early march) I will make sure to bring my digital camera along. I will also use it to take pictures of the Canadian Bren Carrier that is on site and almost ready to run again.

Panzer, are you looking to use it as a captured vehicle with German markings, or are you part of a Canadian re-enacting unit also?

Even though german markings would look very nice on it, we are gonna go as canadians. It'll be like a 2nd impression for our unit.

work has just been done so i guess that a new barrel has been welded in place of the existing stump; the firing mechanisms have been replaced with a propane/oxygen weapons simulator. my girlfriend and i took airtools to the scalloped rust that spanned the entire inner belly of the beast. she (sexton) will soon be in regular running condition ready to hunt and shell at large. it would be sweet to have her running by the lowell event, next year (04).

I was down there last saturday when the put the gun on it. We also got the engine started again for a while. Its doing really good after sitting outside for 30 years. The sexton and our half track should both be at lowell in 2004.

That sounds fantastic, you have to get some photographs up in here sometime soon, if you want to post them somewhere I can stick them on my geocities site and link them to the ww2f

Only problem is that with all the allied stuff we have (sexton, brengun carrier, 2 U.S half tracks, etc) is that we're gonna as canadian, which isn't the main problem. The problem is that we're a german unit so we don't have allied uniforms.
