1/72 scale... Well I have too many to mention as I have been wargaming World War Two in that scale for the last 15 years... I have a very large German army (no surprise there!), an equally large American army to fight them, a large amount of Russians (for the Germans to gun down), a growing British force and have now started on a Dutch army and Turkish troops (not sure why). I think I must have around 300+ vehicles and about 400+ infantry. I think my favourites are my Tigers and my two new JagdPanthers which have well worn zimmerit on them. They look very tough! Anyone else into wargaming this period? My group of friends have just started a campaign of the war with them taking the roles of heads of state, and it has not gone the same way as the war! So far Germany is at war with Russia in 1939 in Rumania and U.S. Marines are policing the port of Danzig!!!
Hi Jason: There are a couple of ways to go for your engine depending on the country you want it to be from. Also, there is a company called 'Roco' that has a line called 'minitank' which makes WW2 vehicles to scale, tank destroyers, jeeps, artillery etc. Let me know if you are looking for a German or American engine and I will check around. My dad works for a model railroading store so I can get most anything.
Hey red barron, i have heard of this WW2 gaming thing and Im wondering, how do play, what do you use for a battle ground, where do you play, well bacially give me a summery. I would be interested in gaming with 1/72 scale, that would be cool!
Steve, I am looking for a german steam engin, i am not sure if im going to use if for a east or west front yet but i should deside so i can build up my allied side (right now i got nothing for them just a bunch of germans). Thanks for the help steve.
Hi Jason: Lat me know what you are willing to spend and if you want it new or not. I prefer used because the engine has a worn look to it already and its usually cheaper.
Steve, I am not sure how much the engines are going for but used would be the best way to go. I totally agree with u and that they have the look and a cheaper price. I dont need anything fancy just something to get some cars pulled so it kinda looks cool. Thanks again for the help.
I just bought on a scale of 1/720 the USS Massachuchettes. I already made the Bismark and the Ark Royal.
Wish I had room to display large plastic models without breakages ! I just 'cheated' again and bought a readymade, limited edition diecast Corgi 1/72 Mosquito FBVI of the 'Banff Strike Wing' released here last week, looking very in its 'Invasion Stripes'.
Martin; diecast is just fine. I got frustrated at an He111 after i accidentally broke a couple pieces and it now sits half finished in its 'hanger'(under my bed). When i get some some money, i plan to buy a ready made Tiger Tank.
Yes - it's no joke, I've always found it a major problem with plastics. I really enjoy making them, but then no matter how careful you are someone breaks them Also ( from the mercenary point of view ) many of the diecasts are collectable : keep the box and they will be worth money. Whereas a built plastic kit is worth..... zilch

Problem I find with these 1/6th scale figures is that they are addictive. It's the easiest way to own so many different uniforms and peices of equipment without having to own a warehouse to store them all in. Tell me about it. Every time i go away, i come home to at least a few repair jobs. This time, i had an extra special treat. My wifes cousion visited while i was gone, and she had her 3 year old son with her. And yes, i'm still in the process of reparing the damage. And red, i agree. I wonder if you guys ever use protective cases for your fine work ? Wondered if they work or not. I personally don't have the room in my office, all due to the Luftwaffe memorbilia/photos I have sitting on shelves interspersed with many file binders/folders. My grandaughter loves to come in and aask " Opa, was ist das ?" Eeeeeeeeeeks ! keep you hands off child ! Curious what you guys do..... E
OI have looked nto cases, there are directions for making them in a mag i get. But the stuff is just two expensive. It worked out to something like £60 jst for an average sized dio.
Yes, i build my own barded wire. I use different grades of fuse wire. A very tedious job, but worth it. I could afford that price, at the expense of models and detail sets.
