Something I've long wanted and finally got hold of at this Summers' 'War & Peace Revival' Show. V1s were largely made of steel, so parts are often unrecognizable pieces of rust - but one of the stallholders was selling a collection of aircraft relics including this piece of V1 rudder, found on the surface in Epping Forest in 1983 ; about two miles from where I lived as a schoolboy........

There's a chance it may have been air-launched, so I photographed it with a Corgi Heinkel + V1.

How can I be sure ? Imperial War Museum to the rescue.................

A unique piece of history here Martin, and very close to home for you it would seem!

Yes - it was especially satisfying because when I was a schoolkid, rumours abounded about V1s and Luftwaffe aircraft which were supposed to be littering the floor of Epping Forest ; I never did find any !

I now have a Ju88 piston from the only Luftwaffe aircraft which actually crashed into the forest in WWII, and now the little piece of V1. Just shows - if you wait long enough ( 40 years, in this case... :pipesmoke: )
