Here is an interesting link from the FDR library to do with allied plans to recapture Burma in 1944 called Anakim.

It has troop strength and the plans of how to complete the operation, that apper to be dependent on the British having the right amount of troops for the operations which included an amphibious assualt on Rangoon. It also includes an intelligence run down of the Japanese strengths in the area.

Nice find Mahross...My own view on the Burma campaign or the re-invasion, is that we the British like in a lot of things ww2, were on same side as our USA cousins with basically the same overall strategic hopeful outcome but with our own political needs and wants.

That document proves my point, liberal sprinklings of China being the reason, keep pressure of China,...help China...as seems to be the idea prevelant through US thinking in Burma area..Helping China will help us win the war...China is the priority...think the British were willing to live with this, but our main aim was to get our territories back and if the USA wants to help China and it suits our cause to have that happen then ok....Help China..But India must be secure firstly...Get Burma and Malya back under control and if states wishes to help China along the way then we ll pay the necessary lip service..
